  • Success with just 20 lbs to loose?

    Hey friends..

I wanted to hear from some of you who had 20 lbs or less
to loose--especially those 40 yr old + ladies...

How long did it take you....did you do anything different
on Atkins since loosing those last 20+ pounds seems
harder? I give up so easily since I don't have "that much"
to loose But at 20 lbs-the weight is creeping up...

Most posts here are from ones who have many pounds to
loose...and their pounds drop off faster it seems.

    Any ideas for me?

    Hi, :wave

When I first started, I weighed 133 and wanted to get to 117. I figured 15 pounds was do-able. By following a strict induction, I lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks. By 4 months, I was down 16 pounds and felt so great, I decided that Atkins would be my PERMANENT lifestyle (combined with daily cardiovascular and toning exercise, of course!). By 11 months, I was down 27 pounds and at the weight I weighed when I was 22 years old!

I've transitioned into a full-fledged runner now and still following lifetime maintenance on Atkins. I can't imagine ever eating any other way. Total weight loss is now 40 pounds and I am nearly 50 years old! I've kept the weight off for 3 years and counting.

It makes no difference how much or how little you have to lose: With Atkins and dedication and discipline, YOU WILL ACHIEVE!

Howdy, Pie! We have almost the same stats. I don't have any experience with the last 20 lbs as I am on that stretch now. But the first 37lbs came off without too much problem.

I will be rooting for you and look forward to seeing you reach your goal! See you at the finish line.

I suppose it depends on if you just want to lose weight or are in it for a different outlook. No preaching here, just suggesting that some people are looking for weight loss and others for long term health benefits, exercise program increase, more water in their system. I do think 20 pounds is doable and it might lead to some changed habits.

        good luck

This morning I reached my goal weight (or, at least, my original goal weight). The last 20 pounds isn't that bad, but I added running and minor weight lifting into the equation about 15 pounds or so ago.

Like most here the first half flew off and I've had to work harder on the remainder. However, it will come off. Unfortunately for me, I now think I need to lose another 10-15, so I'll let you know how easily it comes off.

Regardless, as has been said, it's a lifestyle change and I feel better for it. I've gotten pretty serious with my running now and don't know how much longer low carb will work with the miles building up. We'll see.
