  • 10 lbs to Go!

I've just recovered from a camping trip setback.
It amazes me how long it takes to recover from a "seemingly" harmless cheat. Cheating is not good, I suggest planning well ahead of when your going camping, etc. and continue to eat lo-carb.
But I am happy to say that today I am just 10lbs from my goal.
But I'm having to re-evaluate myself as It still looks to me like I could stand to loose about another 20 instead of 10.
    Thanks for everyones encouragement!!!

Congratulations for being so close to your goal! How did the OWL rungs go? Are you now in pre-maintenance? Good for you for getting back on the wagon, too. I agree, planning is everything.

        thanks

thanks for the kind words of encouragement. :icondance
I never have started adding carbs back yet, I just figured I would stay in Induction until I reach my goal, then gradually see which foods of the berries and vegetable groups that I can safely eat without gaining.

Well Dr. Atkins suggests we do at least the last 5-10lbs in OWL/Premaintenance, so you can start right now with rung1 - veggies and then go from there.

Okay, I will go ahead then at 175lbs, because I think I need to change my goal to 165 instead.

The '5-10 pounds left to goal' time frame is suggested for moving to pre-maintenance, so you really ought to move onto OWL now to give you time to work through the OWL rungs :nod
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Re: 10 lbs to Go!

That is sooo excellent and I really think you are right about the cheating it does more harm then good and really sets a person back. I learned this the hard way through the many attempts and failures through atkins. It doesn't pay to cheat and I fell off over many a harmless cheat but, here I am now after I don't know how many failures I have been cheat free 7 months and still strong.

I'm soo happy for you I can't wait to be 10 to goal I am 10 from Onederland though so that's exciting.

YAY give yourself a GREAT BIG HUG

                    Re: 10 lbs to Go!

Congrats on making it back, John. Learning from the past is a sure way not to do it again. I wish you lots of luck with the OWL rungs, and learning what new foods you desire and put back into your diet. Glad to see you back.

                      Re: 10 lbs to Go!

Congrats! If you have a slender, smaller frame, maybe 165 to 170 lbs would be good, but if you have a more stocky frame, then 175 to 185 lbs would be better. Just my opinion.

Just be sure that you can live with whatever weight you decide on - don't make your goal weight unrealistic. Plenty of people lose weight but because their ultimate goal is not a healthy weight for who they are NOW compared with who they were the first time they went on a 'diet' they slip-up and sometimes that can lead to it all messing up badly. Decide on a weight that YOU are going to be happy with, even if it does mean you'll be a few pounds heavier than you had originally intended.
