The South Beach Diet does allow more options in food choices. Atkins IS more strict, so I can understand how she feels. I feel the same way. But, hey, whatever she is doing is working. She looks great (even though I don't think she's as "beautiful" on the inside).

I like her, and think she is really pretty. I think alot of PR comes out the wrong way. I tend not to judge anyones characters until I meet them. I don't think that will happen soon with her, so I save my comments and energy for something more productive.

Personally, I don't care what anyone feels or says about Atkins. Its my body, my diet and my weight loss, so why would I let what anyones opinion affect it?

SB is lower-fat AND low-carb, which we all know is hunger-inducing and yes, rigid!

Well duh! everyone knows that to be on a diet you have to be starving!

She changed her body so much for the Dukes of Hazzard movie she has been asked by interviewers what she is doing so she told them. South Beach is what works for her and she was asked her opnion and she gave it. I personally took one look at the "These boots were made for walking" video and was thinking myself what the heck was she doing because she really looks incredible.


As far as her being an airhead-well whatever. They edit that show to death. Yes she did say the silly things but my guess is that they are edited to look as if she is saying these things everyday instead of every now and then. I just chuckled at her more than got mad at her for being "stupid". If she is really "stupid" then she is one beautiful, talented, rich stupid woman. You can watch 2 seconds of the Britney & Kevin reality show and see what annoying really is.

I realized I should probably clarify what I said...lol...I get tired of being bombarded about info on any celebrity. I'd rather hear about world events and etc. I really don't pay attention to celebrites except when I watch "Fabulous Life Of..." on VH1 when I'm bored. Wow...they got some neat-o stuff! I've met some celebrites and it's never been an awe-inspiring experience. When I worked at the fuel desk of a truck stop we used to get tour buses all the time. When Keanu Reeves was going around with his band Dog Star everytime they stopped by he'd empty his own trash...buy his own ice and make polite conversation with everyone. (never on the days I was there darn it! ) They're normal people just like you and me, they just live a different lifestyle than most of us. I think the media make a way too big deal over them. Make your movie...sing your song...whatever...entertain me and go away. Lol. j/k.

What disconcerts me a bit about the editing of the show newlyweds on MTV is that her father had governanace...he had creative control of the finished edit (under the auspices of protecting his daughter's image)...

Would he rather she be portrayed as stupid but loveable than as intelligent?

I just think it sets a terrible precident for teenage girls and people looking for role models to believe that stupidity attracts men. It doesn't...well it does, but generally only the wrong kind of men.

While it's off the subject, that's my two cents...

As to her comments...they're unfortunate, but opinions are much like buttholes.

Well I wasn't gonna comment on this, but..... I worked on the entire Dukes of Hazzard movie, and I met Jessica....... drove her, her husband and her friends quite a few times. They were always very nice to me.

First as to her weight loss - just like you have Atkins fanatics, Dukes of Hazzard fans are beyond fanatical. The casting of the movie left a lot of them up in arms, and there were numerous comments about Jessica's butt and thighs, and how she didn't measure up to Catherine Bach, who played Daisy Duke in the t.v. show, etc... Jessica worked out with a trainer 6 days a week and I guess she decided to diet to go along with that. I saw the "Making the Video" on MTV showcasing her remake of the song, "These Boots are Made For Walking", from the Dukes soundtrack..... whatever she's doing, diet/exercise-wise, is working!

As to her intelligence, she isn't going to likely become a rocket scientist any day, but she is hardly stupid. I got the impression that she is still rather immature and a lot of that has to do with the people she surrounds herself with, and her quick rise to stardom.

She's re-making Nancy Sinatra? Anyhow, I thought Jennifer Love Hewitt's version was good---she did it as a part of the now cancelled "American Dreams" show.

Yep, she's done a remake, just not a word for word remake. It's a sort of pop/country take with some of her own lyrics added in..... complete with a new line dance that I'm sure will hit the clubs big.

Im guessing no one else caught this, but in an episode of "Newlyweds" she said she was going to SWITCH off of Atkins to something else. It was when she had just gotten home and they went out to lunch. She was eating something and said "mmmmmm...carbs" and proceeded to talk about switching. Therefore, leading ME to believe, she was on Atkins initially to get the weight off quickly and then once got to the point she was supposed to be at, didn't do to Atkins maintainence, but switched to South Beach. Which, with my experience, it basically the same! South Beach is just low-fat. same restrictions with the carbs.

If I could be ditzy and beautiful like her, and still be a millionare....sure I would love to be!!! But not everyone was born into fame. Im an average 'jane' and I will strive to be as good as I can be. I might not ever be up to Jessica Simpson's standards (or lack there of) but atleast I know, I've worked hard for what I have accomplished.

Many of the famous people in the spot lights today, haven't worked half as hard as you and me. The only one's who have are the one's you can still see the pain and triumph in them when you see them. The one's who did come from nothing and make something of themselves. You will only be as good as the amount you work for.

Yes, she did a re-make of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walking." I watched the video the other day, and was totally disappointed! First of all, she doesn't really "sing" the song. I would describe it more like "moaning" her way through.

Second, she is obviously showing off her "new" body - and distastefully if I may say.

Speedy, I would like to make you feel lots better now! First of all, Jessica wasn't born into fame. She has a brilliant, business-minded dad. Secondly, she is not naturally beautiful at all!! She was born cute, but a few years ago she had plastic surgery on her face.

FYI, I actually like Jessica, believe it or not. I think she is a genuine talent and she seems like a nice girl. But to dissuade people to do Atkins because it isn't a "lifestyle approach" is wrong. SB is great for some people, and Atkins is great for some ppl for life. Atkins is especially good for diabetics and other insulin resistant folks, but I doubt she knows any of that.

Unfortunately, in our society we perk up our ears when celebrities speak, but turn a deaf ear to real people and professionals. That's a shame.

G-Mom...all I gotta say is wow at that link! I went to it and totally didn't believe it at first...I thought "noooo, that is just someone that looks a lot like her" in the before pics! But I did a google image search and came up with a bunch of them...even an archived pic on CNN that looked NOTHING like her now. Amazing how a nose job and an eyelid lift can really change someone's appearance! (And in her case, for the better, though she was pretty before!)
