    Hey guys. I need some advise. I'm going on a trip to a monastery for 3 days. My parents won't let me take any food with me and all they serve there is rice, beans, and other weird egyptian food . There's no doubt I'm going to postpone this woe as there's no way out of it. I was just wondering if any of you had ideas of how to ease the damage? I'd appreciate it.

    I don't know for sure, but I think Egyptian food is very similar to Israeli food. When a member went to Israel last year, we suggested that she would probably be served at almost every meal:

    - tomato and cucumber salad
    - fresh vegetables
    - hard boiled eggs
    - cheese
    - t'china

    The last one, tchina, is a seed and if you aren't at that rung yet, well......

    But you can get by on the other things.

      Hmmm....Drink water a lot? Load up on salady stuff. I don't really know the types of food. It is 3 days, though. I think you will be fine. I am assuming it will be extremely hot, so they will have water and probably not just one kind of food. Even so, I cannot see how it will be that detrimental if you are mindful of what you are doing.

        Thanks guys.

        Yup, it's in the middle of the desert, so they have lots of water. But the last time I was there, all we drank was pepsi. Too bad mostly all egyptian foods are really carby. They don't really have that much salad stuff either. Oh well, I guess it won't hurt that much, being only three days, but I just wanted ideas to minimize it as much as I could.

          Keeping my fingers crossed for you Matt!!!!

          Depends on how your body will handle it - I know with mine, 3 days of carbs can do a lot of damage, but everyone's different.

          If you have to eat what's there, then just watch your portion-size - try and eat smaller portions more often.
