  • RE: Starting over

    Hi All,

This is the first time I post here but not the first time I go on Atkins. I have tried this before and it seems that I don't weight as quickly as I did the first time if I lose anything at all. I recently tried the Michael Thurmond 6 day body makeover to see if maybe that diet would work for me but I only lost 3lbs the first three days and then nothing for the rest of the week. Anyway, I'm going to try this one more time and if you have any suggestion I would appreciate them.

    Thanks

    Re: Starting over

Come on over to the Second Time Around forum. We're all highly motivated and supportive of one another.

But don't get your expectations too high. As you will recall from the first time around, the scale lies. Inches are what counts. A 3 lb weight loss in one week is nothing to scorn.... Give up the scale for awhile, get yourself firmly into Induction, eating only legal foods, keeping carbs under 20, exercising daily, and drinking a ton of water! You'll feel better, look better, and the fat will melt off in its own time!
    Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05
    218/187/140
    Measuring every 2 weeks
As of 10/31/05, losta total of 56.75 inches!

Minimum 45 min cardio per day

      Re: Starting over

You might want to consider reading DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition) if you haven't already...and then read it again.
It doesn't sound like you have realistic expectations for diets.
There is no magic diet that makes pounds disappear like that.
It takes commitment and energy and a lifestyle change.

Most of the people here that have had success stuck with it for months if not years before they hit their goal. And most of them needed serious modifications to their approach to food and exercise.

My advice is to hang around here a bit, read a bunch of posts, see what it's all about, and ask lots of questions. If you just "try" Atkins for a little while you may be disappointed but if you stick to it thru thick and thin I bet you will be more than pleased with your results and the new you.
