  • OUCH!!!Cramps!!

I have been on the diet a little over 30 days..
In spite of taking the supplements, which include 1000Mg Calcium, 50 Mg Potassium, 50Mg Magnesium, Borage Oil, Flax Oil, Fish Oils, Super EPA, a good Multi Vitamin(which has another 100 Mg Magnesium & 80 more Mg Potassium),
I still am getting leg and foot cramps in the morning when I wake up.
I know I perspired a lot several days in 90 degree heat and lost a lot of fluids.
I am drinking around 72 oz. of water each day also.
Anyone got any ideas on why the cramps still??
Appreciate your input. The pain several times was excruciating!!! Thank-you!! Pete

Might try upping your water to about 100 fluid oz. If it's hot and you are dehydrated, that could be it.

Are you exercising? Doing anything different?

      Thanks for your input!

Well, haven't been doing much different, has been in 90's here in Florida tho.
Will try for more water and see if that helps.

As Finelly said, upping water intake is the best thing . I was having this problem as well. I just kept drinking water (actually added more) and as I became more hydrated they went away. Be sure you are taking a vitamin supplement as well (saw that you are Pete, that part was for CaliforniaCasey). Hope you both feel better.

Hmmm...I haven't been very regular with my supplements. My water is ok, I will try to be more consistant with those. Those calf cramps really hurt!!!!!

Thanks for the advice....my vitamins are getting a little dusty (the bottles anyway)

              Re: OUCH!!!Cramps!!

Thanks again for all the support and help-
Went to Dr. today with list of my blood pressure for 30 days or so-
he was delighted with the results and that I (on my own) had cut my mild diuretic to 1/2 tablets which is all I need . He talked of cutting that out if results continue as they have!
Leg cramps have been much better- only feel like on the verge of cramping.
I know what you mean by the trermendous pain in the calf!!! Had me hollering for my wife to run in and massage(VERY LIGHTLY!) my calf.
The next few days it was so sore I was limping.
My thought though is does so much drinking flush all those important electrolytes out??? Seems that may cause cramps too??

try so hard and I give you lots of credit for your determination and know YOU WILL make your goal weight for sure!!
Keep up the good work ladies!!! Put the scales away and just make this a way of life> Pete

WOO HOO! SO glad that you got the good word from the doc, SO glad that the cramping is better. And thanks so much for the praise! I was just feeling kind of, well, FAT, sitting here (it hits me every now and then) and I needed that boost!

                    Re: OUCH!!!Cramps!!

Thanks Pete Great news from your doc!! Keep up the good work. Also, one thing that helps me with the leg cramps is to get up and start walking around on it immediately. It usually goes away a little quicker for me like this. It does hurt like H*** though.

CaliforniaCasey - give those supplements a good dusting, could be a big help for you!!

                        Re: OUCH!!!Cramps!!

This may sound silly.... but my mother and half of the people in her town swear by this remedy for leg cramps:

Unwrap a bar of soap (they used to say Ivory, but they've figured out most brands seems to work) and put the soap under your bottom sheet, near your legs.

Crazy, I know.... but folks swear by it!
