    Re: milk

Yep. If it ain't on the Acceptable Foods List, don't touch it.

As you move further along in the program, Carb Countdown brand milk might be an option with drastically reduced milk sugars (lactose). I am on Maintenance and won't touch regular milk with a ten foot pole.

    Here's an article:
    Milk on Atkins
Milk is not permitted in Induction and Ongoing Weight Loss because it contains too many carbohydrates, including lactose, a natural sugar. Instead of milk, try diluting cream with water as a substitute. Although cream is almost 100 percent fat it does contain some lactose, so most people need to limit their intake to a maximum of 4 ounces daily to lose weight. (Be sure to count the carbs.) If you're not losing weight as quickly as you'd like, limit cream intake to no more than 2 ounces daily. New lactose-reduced dairy beverages that contain about 3 grams of Net Carbs are also good substitutes.
Keep doing what you're doing & you'll keep getting what you're getting!!!

      Re: milk

I was a "1/4 cup coffee with 3/4 cup hot milk" person. I ended up diluting heavy cream and using it. But I still don't use 3/4 cup. Just a dash, and i'm getting used to it!

You can use Heavy Cream instead of milk. giving up some of our little treats is only going to allow us to lose faster and be more healthy. (If I can give up chocolate and ice cream you can give up milk : )

          Re: milk

I drink my tea with half and half, or heavy cream, only a tsp. For me, tea doesn't need to be added to much, like coffee does. Half and half may be to your liking since its a little less thick as heavy cream.
And if you used to use sugar, just switch to splenda.
And count your tea carbs in your daily totals. 6-8oz of tea/coffee are 1 net carb, not including the half and half and sweetener.

I was worried about that myself before I started - the thought of black coffee did NOT appeal! However, I've switched to using cream in my coffee and it's a lovely treat and very luxurious particularly in the office around all the women who are doing WW and are on the skimmed milk only for tea or coffee.... lol!
