  • Question for the experts

I've been wanting to take a good multivitamin and finally went to GNC today and the guy there (he was quite buff might i add) LOL! recommended me take the Women's Ultra Mega Vitamins. Does anybody take this one and if so do they get stalled etc. I really feel the need for a good multivitamin but havent a clue on which one to take. I have never taken a multivitamin except when i was pregnant taking pre-natals.....

I went ahead and bought them but if i cant take them i can take them back. I told the guy i would have to do some studying on them and figure out if I will take them or not. He told me i could bring them back as long as they were not opened.

    HELP!!!!!

    Re: Question for the experts

I take the Walmart brand of Centrum ... I think its called Sentury-Vite or something similar .. same exact ingredients as Centrum, but alot cheaper. No iron either.

Of course I take a bazillion other vitamins too. I read Dr. Atkins Vita-Nutrient Solution and planned my strategy from that.

      Re: Question for the experts

Could you list the ingredients for the vitamins so long as they have no yeast or sugar and other NO NO they should be fine.

I take the 1 a day 50 + I know I'm only 29 but the 50+ has the most for my money it has a lot of different vita that regular ones don't have I am finding I have way more energy on them.

I also take if you wanna know
      garlic
      Flaxseed oil
      zinc
      vitamin c
      vitamin b 6
      Chromium
      Vitamin B 50
      zinc
      vitamin e

I hope I got them all LOL

      Take care hope it helps

        Re: Question for the experts

I love the womens Ultra Mega. Ive been taking them for a very long time. My husband takes the GNC Mega Men multi vitamin as well.
The difference between the vitamins you bought today and most of the vits you would find at Walgreens or Walmart...and the reason for the price difference, is your good quality vitamins....like the Womens Ultra Mega.....are timed release. They actually stay in your system for 10-16 hours instead of 1 hour. I used to study this stuff...... Im kind of a vitamin/mineral nut, ha. Also, I have to add that at one point I went to a nutritionalist and had blood work done. At the time I was taking 2 Womens Ultra Mega a day, lots of flaxseed oil....Barleans brand...in the refridge section...1000 mg of C...and GNC's "Big 50" B vitamin. When my blood lab came back, I had optimum levels of everything in my blood.
        I hope this helps????
You might want to someday read Nutrition Made Simple
by Robert Crayhon sometime also. Its a great book, and you'll be sooo amazed at what you learn.
        Hope this helps??

Oh and by the way...no offense to anyone who buys their vits at Walmart or Walgreens. Its a personal choice that I prefer not to, although I know people who do and like them!!! Im not a pro, I just read alot...call me a book nerd!!

            Re: Question for the experts

No offense taken, but I think the comment you made doesn't apply to all types of vitamins. For example, a Target brand of Centrum Silver is chemically the exact same as Centrum Silver. The packaging may be cheaper and they don't have the overhead of trying to recoup the research that goes into developing the drug/vitamin hence the lower price. Same principle as generic drug makers vs. the big drug makers.

The types of vitamins you are taking or are seeking are likely not offered in a generic form, as they tend to be more expensive to produce. Just trying to clarify, that's all.
