New to the board!! But lurking for sometime....

  • New to the board!! But lurking for sometime....

    Hi everyone, after a week of lurking I decided to join..

    I just started atkins for the second time last Friday. To date, I have lost 9.6 pounds. I weigh weekly and I am going to start measuring today on bodycomp, as recommended by so many of you.

    I have a couple of questions, I would really appreciate input on:
    1. I love salads so I eat one everday. Is this okay or should I add in other types of veggies?
    2. I am a ketchup fiend, I bought the Atkins ketchup, could this impact my weight loss? Should I wait until after induction to use?
    3. I also bought some lo carb tortillas, should I hold on these until after induction?

    I'll be the first to ask: Have you read the book? (2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution).... In it, you will find a list of the allowed veggies on induction. Definitely salads, but in limited quantities and you'll want to eat alot of different allowed veggies. Iceberg lettuce is (blech) nutritionless, but there are other varieties that taste better and are loaded with essential nutrients!

    No low-carb products during induction. And, if you're wise, very sparingly after that.

      Welcome....Salads are good..check the list of veggies allowed on induction and add some in if you want to...You don't have to..I'm not sure about the Ketchup..only one way to find out..Try it and see what happens...As for the low carb tortillas..My sugestion would be to wait..I have never used them..I know they can trigger cravings and stall some people..Just see what happens with your body..We are all different...Congrats on those 9.6 ponds ..That is great..Keep in mind the scale lies..You might want to grap a tape measure and track the amount of inches lost...I have been on Atkins for 2.5 years and have never weighed..I tracked inches in the begenning and now I just go by how I feel and how my clothes fit..Good Luck

        Personally I think that everyone is different. I have been successful losing weight for over a month.. losing about 3 pounds a week. When I eat my scrabbled eggs every morning with the carb option ketsup. I've also eaten the lo carb shells, and the only veggies i eat is a salad with cheese and bacon bits on it, every now and then I will eat brocc. or green beans. Ive been doing this since day one and its been great.

          Thanks everyone for the input it is most helpful. I do have the book, but sometimes I get confused.

          Now I will go measure myself.
