I guess I don't pay attention much, because I just learned about this:

    http://TheFatManWalking.com

This 400 pound man is walking from his home in California to NYC, just because he realized it was time to lose weight. The website tracks his route and his wife writes mini-journal entries every couple of days. I think that's really neat, if not entirely dangerous.

Some of my favorite quotes from his intro page:

We have become conditioned to believe that there is an answer in a pill or cream or drink or machine that will fix it for us. We lost sight of the fact that we are the most incredible machine ever built, capable of great heroism, ingenuity and strength.

The human race has achieved great feats solely on the efforts of the individual. Building pyramids, settling frontiers and walking on the moon are a few examples.

There's a post about this on the Chit Chat forum. I read his journal. What an inspiration? I wish he were coming my way. I'd love for him to stop by and have a meal with hubby and I, and give him a comfy place to spend the night. Lot's of people are sponsoring his efforts. What a remarkable journey he's taking. He's going to be a new man when this is over.

Yeah I fully support him, I will be sending my prayers for him.

That is an awsome quote too btw.

Good for him. I wish I could take time out of my life to actually run across the country. Unfortunately, I gotta work for a living so I am reduced to just 'visualizing' myself running the physical route from Tampa to Galveston this year. I am racking up the same miles anyway. Over 700 miles already done!

I hope he is as committed to changing his eating plan as he is with the walking. Exercise is only one component to permanent slimness, although its very important!!

            I wish him well!

              That quote

              TT,

I have been reading his journal, and I don't think he has changed his eating habits to drastically. he talks about energy bars and spagetti..so who knows.

Well bummer. I was so hoping he had incorporated some type of low-carb plan into his goals!!

                I *do* admire him though!
