This is my first post after returning from a two week holiday in Cyprus.
Said I planned not to put on a gram, and succeeded in that.
After two sessons a day on the cross trainer and lots of swimming I might even have improved my shape a little while maintaining my weight.
And all of that after shovelling dowm copious quantities of food. For breakfast in the Hotel pool side restaurant: Smoked salmon and a mountain of lettuce and cucumber, washed down with 1.5 litres of mineral water and finished off with a peach. Some days I would have poached salmon and a omelette.
Lunch time (back in the bungalow) a tin of tuna with cucumber and real mayo often followed by 200g full fat strained Greek Yoghurt with a teaspoon or two of diabetic jam - all bought in the local supermarket.
Supper would be a large steak and a Cypriot village salad - or maybe a pork chop - they are HUGH in Cyprus. Four or five evenings I had a Meze, for those who know what they are. Lots of salads and dips fololwed by a stew and finished off with lots of grilled meats.
And for a treat I would often nibble some fine Chocholtae (70% cocoa solids)
This was not exactly austerity eating, but by keeping the carbs low and the excercise moderately high I maintained weight and improved shape.
Let those new to Atkins take heart - it does work.
But why did I choose the title ""Indices of success"?
Last year after three months on Atkins and 50lb down I took my wedding ring to a goldsmith in Limassol who reduced it by three sizes. It's a bit slack again, but not enough to go down the fourth size. And in the heat and humididty you swell a little anyway.
This year on returning home I got out a watch I had not worn for 18 months and (after a loss of 60) found the wrist strap far too loose - I can now slip two fingers very easily under the stainless steel bracelet of that watch. The watch I have worn as I reduced has a much more easily adjustable bracelet which I gradually reduced, so I did not notice the degree of change.
Leave weight and waist measurements aside - can anyone else share interesting indices of sucessful weight loss?
Just for a bit of fun!
