  • Big losses in inches

I tried on my "skinniest" pants 3 weeks ago and could barely get them over my hips and couldn't even attempt to zip them. I have been on an antibiotic which made me put on some water weight. I am now back to the weight I was 3 weeks ago. Just for kicks I thought I would try on the jeans to see if they were any better. Not only did they go over my hips but they fit. Yipeeeee! So that goes to show you that you can lose inches even when the scales are showing no loss. The only problem is that the jeans are over 10 years old and not the style now, but who cares. I'm not buying new jeans until I have nothing to wear. I'm pretty cheap. I guess that was my last shopping trip to my closet.

            Re: Big losses in inches

GOOD FOR YOU! I know from personal experience that losing inches without weight is possible - even if you're already at goal. In 2003, I teetered between 2's and 4's and was 109 pounds. Then I incorporated full-body resistance training to the same low-carbing, brisk treadmill-walking (never running), and Pilates I still do today, and by last summer, I was 108 pounds and size 2's fit, but had become loose on me. As you can see, not a huge change in weight there! lol

Since last summer, I've incorporated in resistance training more areas of the body while maintaining all other aspects of eating and exercise exactly the same as always, and am now 106-107 (basically the same weight), and am wearing size 0's now. (I'm barely 5'3", quite roundish in shape and naturally mesomorphic in build, and have a full, roundish face, so this size works on me personally.)

The scale is an excellent gauge of general progress, but please let the tape measure be your best friend! I think it is so very important to take measurements as early on in your weight loss journey as possible - I promise, only the mirror and photos are more gratifying.
