Okay, so one of the reasons I post these links is so that I have a place to come back to and visit them in case my bookmarks get erased or something like that. I also chose to post them bc most of them have a lot of interesting reads. Check this one out...http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com . Here is one of the articles of particular interest which brings me to this week's shout out...

This week's shout out goes to: All the Atkins Diet and Low Carb Diet haters that continuously provide us low carb dieters the motivation, discipline, patience, dedication, and determination to prove you morons WRONG!

Re: 10 Lies About the Atkins Diet that Low Carb Gurus don't want you to know...huh?

Interesting article, but here's some info they didn't include....

    1. "Most low carbers won't keep the weight off for one year"

Unfortunately that's true for any diet. 9 out of 10 dieters who reach goal will regain their weight within 1 year of reaching goal.

    2. Dr Atkins "advised his clients to eat as much as they want while on his program"

I don't know what book they were reading, but that's not in the books I've read.....

    3. Dr. Atkins "still recommended to remove almost ALL carbohydrates from the Induction phase and weight loss phases of the diet--even the healthy nutrient dense good (natural) carbs".

Again, I don't know which book this person was reading but clearly he believes that the USDA's recommendation of no less than 130 carbohydrates daily is the "normal" value. Moreover I don't think he realizes that even on Induction, we eat "healthy nutrient dense good (natural) carbs" provided we don't stuff ourselves with the low carb bars and shakes. Speaking for OWLers and Pre-Maintenancers, we eat more veggies than the USDA recommends. We can eat whole grains, nuts, fruits and even some of the starchier veggies.

    Anyhow.....

I may not be at goal but I haven't gained any of the weight back and I started a year and a half ago. sheesh...I get tired of hearing that. I went to the website he plugged at the end of the article and it led me to an obnoxious web site where he's trying to peddle his book. I think that's probably the goal behind that article...to sell a book. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the haters. They're either uneducated or have an alterior motive.

There are still alot of people with misconceptions on what Low carbing is all about. I've kept the weight off for two years now.

I am getting close to my goal. I have run into a couple people that say it is a short term stratagy. To all of them I say boo! How do you argue with results? I am getting skinny, with a good road map to staying there. I eat well, walk and am not going back to the over-weight guy I was. Atkins is healthy, effective and my new life style.

It will be 2 years under goal in 3 months...

I could argue every point in that article but I've found that carbs = bad mm'kay?

I just think that lo-fat is just as dangerous as lo-carb. It's not a natural way to eat period.

The only sure way I've found to lose weight & keep it off is thru regular exercise. Lo -carb will help you drop the weight but without exercise it won't stay off. You need carbs, you need fat, you need protein.

I couldn't even finish that article I was so mad. Obviously the guy didn't even read the entire book, he probably just skimmed it and pulled out stuff he could put a spin on to make him sound creadible. Ugh!

In there he said how no diet plan will work withought including excercise. Well correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Dr. A say that this "diet" is a 3 tiered system, including food, EXCERCISE, and supplements. There is an entire chapter dedicated to excercise, the guy just had to look at the table of contents to know that. Sorry but if a person doesn't take the time to become educated about the material before he tries to go on a speel I have to discredit everything he says.

LOL, I am a 24 year old college student that doesn't know anything about "negative" calories or the laws of thermodynamics but I can safely say I know more then this guy.
