  • Who's right?

Based on the equipment at the gym I burned 400 calories today. I did 35 minutes of moderate to vigorous effort on the cross trainer = 300. And I alternated walking at an incline and running (no incline) for 10 minutes = 100.

But I just looked up on fitwatch and it says that based on my wieght I burned 770 calories for the cross trainer. The walking/jogging is about right it says 94 pounds. What do you guys think? Which one should I go with?

Are the machines in the gym actually accurate?

Nope, they aren't. They generally don't factor in age, weight, etc. Even Fitday isn't exact.........

You're just going to be ballparking the exercise caloric consumption, I'm afraid......

I agree; those machines are not accurate. The best way to monitor calories is with a heart rate monitor that you enter your age, height and weight.
