  • Atkins shakes

    I'm about 6 days into OWL and was wondering if shakes were ok breakfast or mid day snack.
    SW-165lbs
    CW-152
    GW-145
    Height- 5' 6''
    Age-27/female

    Nope. Avoid them. They are not good for you and can cause stalling or cravings.

      If you look at the POWER of 5 in the OWL chapter, it says:

      These portions contain roughly 5 grams of carbohydrates. Food groups are arranged in the general order in which they should be added.

      Vegetables (list of veggies I'm not going to reproduce here)

      Dairy (list of dairy I'm not going to reproduce here)

      Nuts and Seeds (same as above)

      Fruits (same as above)

      Juices (same as above)

      Convenience foods
      You can select from the variety of convenience foods (bars and shakes are the two most abvailable), but be sure to determine the actual number of digestible carbohydrates in any particular product (see Chapter 8, page 77)
      So at least according to Dr. Atkins in DANDR 2002 OWL chapter, convenience foods come in after the berry rung of OWL.
