  • McDonald's Chicken Salad

I had to bring one of the ranch hands to the ER today (he's okay) and ran out to Mickey D's for something to eat. I haven't had anything there in ages and opted for their grilled chicken bacon salad, picked up at the drive through. When I stopped and tried a couple bites, I thought it was just gross. The chicken tasted very processed and the lettuce and bacon didn't taste good to me either. Not "gone bad", but yucky. I went back and the person on shift was wonderful -- refunded the salad cheerfully and with no question. I ordered a double cheeseburger to replace it and they gave that to me free (only $1, but that was nice).

Sometimes it does pay to speak up nicely when you have a problem with something.

I've had that salad too and it IS YUCkY!!!!

If I'm in a pinch, I also have the double-cheeseburger (no ketchup, no pickle) and just snatch off the bread. YUM.

I swear, I have REALLY come to loath and detest fast food these days. I DO like Quizno's... but fast food joints turn my stomach. And I hadn't even seen Fast Food Nation (is that the name of it?) yet.

I used to be THE QUEEN. I hate it now for what it has done to America and for what it did to me (or what I LET it do to me).

Fast Food Nation is a book; Super Size Me is the movie you're thinking of. I'd like to get both. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...l/-/B0002OXVBO

Maybe I'll never eat fast food again, but that's okay. At least I didn't make an injured man wait while I fixed lunch to go, but I sure was tempted! lol. That is a good reminder for me to research more options in that town. There really isn't much, even if I had spent $10 or more. Will start another thread for ideas.

I too am usually loathe to try fast food chicken. There is just so many ways for chicken to go utterly wrong, and the fact that Newmans own Ranch at McD's has an astronomical 9g of carbs. When I go out for fast food, I usually order the dbl cheeseburger as well no buns, ketchup, pickles with lettuce and mayo. It works for me and is a better lunch than just eating beef sticks while on the road.

Not sure where you get your nutritional info on Newmans own at McD's bowolf but here in Canada according to their website it's 4g of carbs for 58g's (1 pkg). is it different in the states?

Just curious to know if they're serving a different one down there?

I have yet to find a fast food salad that has much meat on it at all. And the chicken - unless it's fried, is always yucky. I have ordered Taco Bell's taco salad without the beans and with extra meat.

hmmm you know that's very ineresting. cause i'm quite sure its the same 'Newmans Own' dressing. I highly dought there's a separate Canadian factory . I'll be much more careful with the canadian carb counts now.

Here's a link to the Canadian version of the dressing, which I got from the Canadian Food calculator (http://www.mcdonalds.ca/en/food/calculator.aspx):

                        Re: McDonald's Chicken Salad

McDonald's only has 7 things that do not contain sugar (info from the movie SuperSize me).
                        1. Sausage patty
                        2. Hashbrowns
                        3. French fries
                        4. Unsweetened Ice Tea
                        5. Coffee
                        6. Diet coke
                        7. Chicken McNuggets

Everything else on their menu contains some form of sugar-including the salads!

If you have to eat there....the bunless burgers would be my best bet in a pinch, but I have yet, since being on Atkins for 2 1/2 years, stepped foot into one or ate from there.

When I'm out and about, I go to a local deli or sandwich place and get their chef's salad, places I know that cater to my diet needs, and you get so much more than what you'd get at a fast food place.
