Lauren, get out your phone book and look for a Crisis Line number. Or if you have counsellors at the college you are at, give them a call. If you live in a dorm, surely there is somebody there that you know that you can talk to rather than invite strangers off the internet to call you. (No offense to our ADBB membership of course, but you all know what I'm getting at here.)

Wow.. I must be missing something here.. I really didn't see a problem w/ a member asking for help from her fellow ADBBers. AIM isn't that different from PMing someone. It's still fairly anonymous and alot of us have our AIM names in our profile. Like me... Lauren, you can feel free to IM me anytime. My name is kimberlykidd514. Maybe I can help, maybe I can't.. but I'll give it a shot.

My daughter gave out her screen name to someone and ended up getting stalked. I would strongly suggest not posting AIM or email addresses in our public forums. Instead, share them by PM. Members aside... there are hundreds of 'guests' that have 'view' access to our main forums.

wow... cleo responds within 5 minutes of your plea for help... doesnt have the means you asked for... offers a private alternative solution... and then you have the nerve to cop an attitude back to that same person that just wanted to help?

ya know, a simple "thanks for the offer, but i really need todo this on AIM" would have been nice.

I don't have a dog in this fight, so to speak, but I'm really not seeing that what she did is wrong. People come to this forum everyday for support from fellow members. As I said, I think alot of us already have our AIM and Yahoo names in our profiles.

I don't know Lauren, don't know the history of her posts, etc.... maybe some of you know something that I don't. But I was just surprised at the immediate responses to tell her to call a crisis center, etc... *shrug*

That may be true but I just want to reiterate that 'Guests' cannot view profiles and I suggest caution when posting personal information out on the public boards. This isn't directed to any particular member. I've seen addresses, emails, etc.. posted in the open and have had to deal with several members who have been stalked in the past because of that.
