Today I had to go shopping for some fairly inconsequential things. I decided on a whim, to actually see what size I was - clotheswise I mean.
I popped into a shop I hadn't been into prior to starting this WOE.Bearing in mind that in this self same store I last bought a pair of jeans size UK20 - in May.
Tried on a 20 - way too large. Got a UK18. STILL too big. Tried a UK16 - bit BIG but they fit.
I am stunned. I've only lost 24lb - how come? Ok I'm still a 22-24 top which makes me look a bit disproportionate but who cares. I'm now classed as the UK AVERAGE size for women. You can bet I'll work that into every conversation in the next couple of weeks.
5 weeks ago had I had a bad experience. I was passing Monsoon and went to have a look at the sales. A skinny snot nosed assistant stopped me at the door and said "Excuse me madam, but I don't think our sizes quite go up to yours. Try a Plus-Siz shop".
I gave her a dressing down and wrote the company a dignified and mature but strong letter. It really hurt though, I can admit that now.
Now normally I'm a fairly reserved person, not given to many impulses, but flushed with my success today I just happened to pass Monsoon on my way home. Lo and behold I spy the same snot nosed assistant. To **** with dignified and mature. I sashayed in there; picture this, short frizzy haired woman, jumping up and down, waving said SIZE 16 jeans in snot-nose's face yelling "Read it and weep, sweetie, SIZE 16, SIZE 16, In YOUR FACE- honeybunch! I can buy anything I like in this goddamned place now" (actually that was libellious, I can't even afford a Monsoon carrier bag at present, but hey, she doesn't know that).
This is a moral victory. I dedicate it to the losers on this board, big and small, past losers and those yet to be. Let's stick it to 'em!
