  • Just Realized What May Be Causing My Problem

It just dawned on me that my blood pressure medication, which contains a diuretic, may be making it difficult for me to lose weight. After trying many different brands and kinds of BP medication, this is the only one that worked for me without causing side effects. So I'm stuck taking it.

Well, at least I know what MAY be the culprit to my non-existence weight loss. Still, I keep on keeping on....just in case! Even if I don't lose weight, at least I feel better.

Good for you for deciding to keep on keeping on regardless Nutrinut

Have you decided to move on up the OWL ladder or are you going to stay on induction for a while first?

Betty was one member who lost nothing on induction but reached goal by carrying on through all the phases of Atkins - she started to lose on OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I'm an Atkineer who didn't see the scale move at all for 12 weeks after induction even though I was sticking to this WOE like glue. The scale never budged but I went from a size 22 to a size 16 anyway. Stick with it and go try on some new clothes.

I still can't believe I'm fitting in a pair of size 16 jeans.
Truly, the scale doesn't seem to reflect my outer changes at all, but my clothes sure do.

The scale finally started nudging down a little, bit by bit, and it is still moving slower than molasses, but I feel great, and my clothes are all baggy.

That's amazing! I don't understand how that can be, but it's wonderful nonetheless.

I did try on clothes today, and I still l wear the same size. Nothing has changed - not the scale, not my measurements. I'm merely maintaining and hanging on to all the fat!!

Girl, the scale is NOT the way to measure success on this woe. This is about IMPROVING YOUR HEALTH and weight is just one part of that equation. Stay the course. IT WILL WORK OUT.

I didn't lose weight (pounds) for 6 months, but I lost 6 dress sizes during that period. That's because fat takes up more volume than muscle. So if you are losing fat, but building muscle, your weight can stay the same but your size will decrease.

Fat cells look like balloons and they can fill up with alot of fat. Muscle cells look like stacked pencils. So if you have 3 filled balloon and 3 pencils, which will take up less space? The 3 pencils right?

Even if these pencils and filled balloons weigh the same amount, the balloons will be bulkier than the pencils.

That blows my mind; nonetheless, I'm not losing fat either because my clothes fit the same and I measure the same. I'm not sure at what point to try something else to lose weight. Weight loss is ONE of my goals. I feel good - no more blood sugar swings - but if I need to lose weight or fat, I may have to try something else. I don't know how long to give this.

But Nutri love, why not decide to give this a proper trial this time? It has only been a couple of weeks and you have lost 3 pounds - about 10% of your hoped-for loss

And if you had resisted getting on the scales after 7 days but waited till the 14th day you would not have felt you were at a standstill.

You probably have read this thread before http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5090
but try to read it again and see if it helps you realise that you are doing well with your loss so far, and days or weeks of not losing are not unusual on Atkins. Our bodies need to readjust themselves sometimes before dropping more pounds.

You said the WOE is making you feel better so hang on to that thought.

So if nothing else this woe is helping you not put weight on!!

Move on up the OWL ladder and start to find out how your body reacts with different foods and discover your CCLL this time and concentrate on how much better you feel

You will get to goal in your body's own good time so relax and enjoy the ride instead of worrying about it.

Have you spoken to your doctor about whether your medication is going to be a hindrance in your journey towards a smaller you?

                  Edited to add:
I have been experiencing a yoyo weight journey myself the last couple of months - got down to 151 pounds on 21 August but had to change my sig back to 154 a couple of weeks later. Only just seen 152 the last couple of days!!

                  It happens to us all
