  • Gained 3 pounds....back to writing!

I could feel it and knew it before I
stepped on the scales....I have gained
3 pounds! (funny how you just know!)

I will go back to writing EVERYTHING down
that goes in my mouth. That is such a BIG
help if you don't already do that. Its a hassle
but it does work in the long run .

    Just got too lenient...
Don't let it happen to you!

Oh yes, I've been there. Don't worry though, those 3 pounds will be gone before you know it. I find it tedious to enter all my foods into fitday everyday, but I definitely do it once or twice a week just to make sure I'm still in line like a good little Atkins soldier!

Mistake me if I'm wrong, but are you already at goal Pie?

        Yes...I am at goal.
It seems when I get there I slack off.
This time I am catching it early so it doesn't
        creep up so fast.

Maintaining your goal weight is just as important (or more)
than actually loosing it. What's the use of loosing it if
you just gain it back? With my age it is getting harder
and harder to get it off and keep it off. My metabolism
        is definately slowing down....

What's more...the holidays will be here soon and there
will be plenty of temptations...so I need to have the
right mindset to enjoy the holidays but not make them
ALL about food---which we Americans are guilty of
doing! I want to start 2006 at goal for once in my
life and not on a "diet" for a New year's resolution.

It's all about the right positive "mindset" of getting and
        staying healthy....

I think maintaining, for me, is actually more difficult than the actual losing was!

good for you for catching it in time. I"m up 7 lbs after having been at goal for 7 months, with no cheats. Just more calories and less exercise of the summer was my downfal..but i'm working on it now (and i've learned my lesson too).

Journalling has always helped me get back on track too.

Are you in extended induction or OWL? I found when i was halfway to goal and stalled for a couple of months it was switching OWL that broke the stall and helped me reach goal.

I am on OWL but it is an Ongoing Weight Stall... OWS... stalled for months....
maybe I will go back on induction for a while...

or maybe my body will not let me go lower while eating as much as I do....
                same old.. same old....food...

I know if I starved myself as I have in the past.... a grapefruit for breakfast... an egg or salad for lunch... and just a salad for dinner for a week or two... I would drop the weight....
but I always put it back...

Absolutely maintenance is the hardest part. The good news is, if you work out regularly and rigorously, maintenance is easier. For me, exercise is the absolute KEY to keeping the weight off. At any age. I'm going on 50 and my metabolism is still rockin' ... which I credit 100% to running.
