  • Past my goal!

    Hey all,

Sorry for not being here more. Life gets in that way. I am still without picture, but just thought I would like to say I am under my goal by 5 pounds. This was not my plan, but, I am healthy, active and feeling really good.

I quickly moved through OWL and PM. I am now eating carefully, and working out a lot. I am 5 pounds from where I was at age 21. I was too thin then so, I have to turn the ship around.

It is crazy to think that I want to gain 5 pounds (muscle mass), when 3 months ago I was 40 pounds heavier.

I think I have been too cautious with my eating. Berries have been in, as well as melon. I think it is time to try whole grains!

I swear, a picture is coming, and a really good story!

Also comes a winter, in which I will be more active supporting people on our journey.

    Thanks to all. Pictures coming!

      Wow! Well done!

You are the same height as me (though I suspect somewhat younger) but it is interesting to know we had the same target weight in mind. Well, actually, as I am a Brit I count in stones and 14 stone = 196lb.

So I have a few pounds to go - slowly.

But this morning I weghed 203 lb.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
      he said, 'Don't count calories.'
      --------------------------------------
Male 6 ft 3in 60 years old. Married 28 years.
Began Atkins March 04 at 260lb, reduced to 203lb by April 07 and maintained.
      Blood Pressure Mar 04 147/94 . Jun 04 121/74 . Dec 04 119/72 . Jan 06 126/71 . Dec 07 110/70
Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.

I am mildly optimistic that now starts the easy part. I have really started a new way of living. Walking to work every day has become an important part of my routine. I have been going hiking in the mountains for the first time in a few years, something I have always loved, but stopped doing largely because it became more work than fun. Eat smart, exercise = more fun out of life!

Thanks to everyone here on the boards for the support, words of wisdom and good humor! I look forward to watching other success stories develop.

Congratulations, Dave! I for one have always thought Maintenance to be by far the easiest part. As long as you keep it all reigned in, mind your p's & q's, and continue on with your physician-approved fitness regime, OWL is a bit more comfortable - not to mention even more livable than the preceding Atkins phases. (At least for me!)
