  • Flunctuations...

Ok, this may be redundant...and I've read the post about weight loss being linear and the one on Why the Scale can lie....

but this has been my weight this week

    246, 245, 244, 243, 244, 245

    You've got to be kidding!

Everytime I exercise regularly (which I am doing now) I don't lose!!!!
    Argh!

Does this happen to anyone else, I don't think I'm building muscle that quickly!!!

It can happen. If you're eating your Atkins, drinking your water and exercising, you will be shrinking. If you haven't already, get out that tapemeasure!

        Re: Flunctuations...

Funny! Measure Ha, I have two measuring tapes that give different results. I measured the tapes using a metal tape and found out that one of the tapes was 1/4 inch larger than the metal tape.

The day after a weight lifting set I am heaver and my waist is thicker. My weight & waist go down the day after a set. My daily weight is +- a pound or two per day.

After I announce that I lost a pound my weight goes up, therefore I keep my mouth shut so my weight will stay down.

My clothes are tight in the AM and Lose in the PM.

The neighbors say I look like I have been losing they can see it in my face. ;>) and my husband does not notice a thing. My plan is to stop weighing! Stop measuring, and go naked.

I fluctuate like that with every pound I have lost. I don't worry about it.

I'm a fluctuatin' girl right now, too! Whenever I'm building up muscle mass, I'm also gaining a little bit of fluctu-weight (hee hee), and holding onto some whooshie water. But my clothes are getting ginormous on me! Yours will be, too! Hang on...you'll have a whooshie soon.

My weight does that too, sometimes 2 lbs difference in a day. I think it's mostly due to salt and I can usually predict when it's going to happen. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Weird coinkydink but if you replaced the 2 with a 1 (145 instead of 245) that's exactly what my days are like lately...up down up down around and about...it drives me nuts.

One thing I notice though is that it'll hover like that, but if I really look at it, it's slowly hovering down lower. A while back I was belly-aching that it was going 154/156/155/153 and so on...so when I really think about it I am losing.

This is why we advise to stay away from the scale and not watch this slow torture...and I often need to take my own advice about this...lol

I fluctuate also. I was 167 this morning go figure. I also weigh everyday but i know that i still weigh 164 in real life...lol! I just go back and see what i ate the day before. Something had more salt etc. I know the inches are still flying off just cant get any more lbs off. I just started back on Monday so i'm hoping for some kind of loss by the end of the week!

Keep up the good work! Before you know you will look back at this post and say geez...that was 10lbs ago!

                    Re: Flunctuations...

                    Thats you guys. I wish I could replace the 2 with a 1 !!!!
I'm working towards that anyway...well I did weigh again this morning and guess what, it was 242.5! So I don't know if will stay there or not, but that is the lowest weight my scale has measured for me for a good 2 years!!!!

I'm sticking with it so hard-core, My trip in December to Hawaii is a HUGE motivator!!!

I like to weigh (more than I should) so that if the scale starts going up, I know I need to re-evaulate what I'm doing, ya know?

Measuring...to be hoenst, I really don't like doing it because it seems like I get a different result (not because I've lost inches, but because I'm not measuring in the exact same spot)...

                    I'll think about doing it.

And Cleo, my clothes are starting to get really baggy. I tried on this sweater I am wearing today at Old Navy over a shirt I was wearing (bc they were closing and they wasn't time to go to the dressing room) Anyway I thought it fit, but it is HUGE on me. and my pants are totally baggy too...

                    So yeah : )

Hope you all had success today too!

                    Stay STRONG

That is fabulous, casey! It's so weird that the scale would stay put and our clothes would be falling off... but here's to weird! Especially when it makes for cute fashion trends.
