  • Awakening Tastebuds

In the last couple of weeks, I have been introducing a few new foods back into my body. There have been a few surprises. My step-son brought me over some of that new Coke One, I tried it, and couldn't believe how sweet it was, a couple of sips were enough for me. 8 months ago, DIet Coke was a staple in my diet. I also tried some low carb cheese bread, a local bakery in town bakes for specialty diets, as well as regular. The carb count is 7/slice! Toasted with some butter, and I thought to myself, this is luxury. My taste buds came alive, and oh what a treat. Frozen berries have become a welcomed treat with some whipped cream for dessert! I've been experimenting with various cheesecakes too.New vegies, such as Jicama, & celeriac have added colour and variety to my menues.

There are so many things to experiment with. My tastebuds have been awakened, and I now appreciate the foods that go into my mouth, and actually taste them, rather than just shoving unneeded carbs in. My sense of taste, and smell, work overtime now. All this is so gratifying, and I attribute this to this Atkins WOE! Not only am I losing those unwanted pounds, but I am in better physical shape than I have been in over 25 years!!!

Oh, do I ever know what you mean it's amazing how much taste we lose when what we put in our moths is only for comfort or just becaue. I too take my time to eat and savour every bite. Everything is sooo much better now.

Isn't it amazing that food that used to taste good to us just doesn't anymore. I actually had some chinese today (no rice but it did have a sauce on it)that wasn't Atkins friendly. First of all, I was ashamed I did it and secondly it wasn't enjoyable at all. It used to be my favorite dish to eat. I would have been much happier with a chicken and vegetable stir fry. This was my last cheat. I am very happy that my tastes have changed so much that I don't like sugar and starch. It finally happened! It is so wonderful to enjoy the taste of fresh, whole foods and not the junk! I guess it is good in a way that I cheated because now I don't have to feel like I'm missing out on something. I don't like it anymore. Yeah!
