Hi all. Just had some thoughts today about life which I want to jot down and who knows it might help some people out one day. (FIRSTLY THOUGH FOR ALL OF YOUR BENEFIT, A BRITISH STONE = 14 LBS) lol
October 8th 2005, almost 2 years since I have been doing Atkins. What a massive difference that has happened to my life in that time. I stepped on the scales this morning, before going off to work, I was wearing a shirt and tie, a pair of trousers and even my shoes. Yet I still weighed in at exactly 14 stones. Amazing really bearing in mind how heavy my shoes and the rest of my clothing is. (I always record my weight when I weight naked).
2 Years ago I was almost at 18.5 stones (naked). My how things change.
I no longer eat any of the high carb counting foods, and dont even get cravings for them anymore, I can honestly say that I will NEVER go back to my old way of eating.
My will power and resolve of sticking to the plan amazes lots of people (and also me sometimes too).
My biggest thought that came to me this morning, whilst I was serving some customers with alcohol was - That no matter what life throws at me, and if I ever feel upset and sad about anything, I know it will blow over soon and atleast I can be happy with myself for the amazing feat that is losing weight.
I often thank Dr Atkins quietly to myself thinking what a fantastic life changing plan he came up with. I also thank the Admin Bren, the mods of the board and a lot of other special people that have been around on ADBB for the time I have been here. Without this board I know that I would have been in trouble. In the early days when I started out on this "diet" I found ADBB so so useful and remember a certain mod by the name of Janice. Janice and Bren (goddess of ADBB
) have been very instrumental to me over the past 23 months !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I first started out on Atkins, I lost weight fairly quickly, and a close friend of mine noticed a difference in my size within 2 weeks of starting! That was another huge reason to keep me going. (thanks Neil).
Finally, even whilst typing this message I remember something else that I snigger to myself about quite often..... 6 months into my Atkins life a work colleague of mine at the time once asked me if I had had a good weekend. I replied "My weekends and even my life is all good, now that I am losing weight". Her response to that was a very very bitter "what, just because you are getting thinner doesnt mean you will be happy". (btw, she was a lot larger than I had ever been). Looking back on it Bev, I'm afraid to say that getting thinner does keep you happy!
Well it does me anyway.
I intend to stay on ADBB for a long time to come and hopefully will help a number of you through the stages of this wonderful diet.
God bless you all. Together we CAN all succeed.
(and yes, if a lady called Bev ever says to any of you, that being thinner will not make you happier LOL, she is lying!!!!!!!!!
Good luck.
Rich
