    Re: Red Meat

I'm with choeve. People assume we all eat vast sides of beef on Atkins, but it is mostly ground beef and maybe once per week for me! I love eating ground beef in taco salads. I think I tend more towards pork because it is a breakfast item.

I eat steak almost every night I might make chicken every now and again and I killed Pork for months having eaten it too much in the beginning. I never get sick of steak, roast ETC. MMM MMMM Good. I love ti also eat a can of salmon with lunch every day too LOL. I am a meat freak and with my exercise regime I need the protin to help fuel my muscles for my intensive running.

        Re: Red Meat

Normally, a couple times a week max. However, last week I only had fish once and ate either pork or beef ( we're talking ribeyes, sausages, hamburgers, etc.)for every meal. I lost a lb. this week, but I lost a lb. on the more fishy weeks too so who knows if that makes a difference or not.

Depends on what is on sale... and for how much. I love red meat.. and tend towards anemic, so I eat as I can.

We have it about every third day...I like to rotate through the big three (pork one day, beef one day, chicken one day) with fish for lunches occasionally.

Probably twice a week for me. The balance mostly being fish and chicken and probably pork least often.

We have it maybe once a week. Partly to keep grocery costs down (if i'm gonna have steak it has to be a nice cut!), partly because i believe the 'everything in moderation' thinking. i try to keep variety, and try to make alot of different meats/fishes etc.

                      Re: Red Meat

As I'm eating left overs for breakfast and reading all of these post I realize...How about turkey? I haven't seen it mentioned here. Probably cause the topic is red meat but as everyone was listing there main sources of protein I don't think I saw turkey. I used to roast a big turkey breast once a week and then eat leftover turkey for lunch for the rest of the week. My kids love it. More than nuggets and much much more than lunch meat deli turkey. We also eat the turkey chops and turkey cutlets. But I would definitely say the majority of our meals come from red meat. Which is why I was wondering is it possible to eat too much red meat? I mean I feel great so I guess there's my answer!

I crave it pretty bad, but being raised in the heart of beef country that could be expected I guess. I miss those Nebraska steaks something fierce!!! I eat it about 4 times a week.

                          Re: Red Meat

We have it about every other day. I wish I liked fish but of course I only like it if it is fried in a batter of some sort - I don't like the fishy taste. Turkey - I only like it cold. The smell of it when it is hot and sitting on my plate makes me nauseous. It smells so good in the oven but when it is actually on my plate - yuck! Sounds weird - I know. I get the same reaction lately from pork and I used to LOVE pork... So as you can tell if I have meat it is usually chicken or some form of red meat.

                            Re: Red Meat

I have red meat pretty much every weekday, in some form. I can't eat most seafood or I would. I try and make sure if I have red meat for lunch or dinner, I have chicken or turkey for the other meal. Breakfast is bacon and eggs. Weekends I tend to have wings, or some variety of chicken or sausage.

Hamburgers and steak are my main staples of Atkins. Without them, I'd probably never been able to do Atkins. Well, that and wings. I do try and get better cuts of meat when I can afford them as I like the taste alot better.

We eat red meat about 2-3 times a week. I can't get enough of chicken though, and have started really enjoying fish now!

Well I'm the black sheep of this board but I almost never eat red meat. In fact I rarely eat meat at all. Occasionally I'll eat some tuna or a bit of grilled chicken, but mostly I eat fruits and veggies. It may sound boring but my taste buds have changed quite a bit over the past year.
