Considering induction only allows no more than 20 carbs.. thats almost half of her daily limit right there.

I'm not picking on you or anything I just wanted to point that out.

I've tried Pau's breakfast muffins & they are so very good. I've modified them a bit, subbing sausage for bacon cuz I like sausage more but the recipe gives you a lot of variety. I've made them w/ sausage & mushrooms and/or red bell peppers. Made them with different cheeses they are just the best!

Well you're going to have to eat your carbs sometime. I personally like to eat them at breakfast to give me energy for the day. (I guess the key for you is to determine how and when your carbs are "spent." I prefer to spend them on fruit -- I love apples -- as opposed to other stuff. ) Then I eat a salad for lunch (virtually no carbs). Then I eat a light (lowish-carb) dinner.

With a 20 carb limit there are really no great alternatives. After you get through this phase you'll have more options available. I personally skipped the induction phase altogether and lost weight just fine. But my weight-loss/eating transformation was more of a gradual thing. I never counted carbs, but as more time passed the stricter I became. Over time eating correctly became easier and easier....almost 2nd nature. I realize many on this board are looking for quicker results and this is not an option.

        Re: Grab and go breakfasts???

Sunday is my food day. I spend it in the kitchen making things for the entire week. What I make for breakfast are these little muffins-type things? lol here's what i do:

        spray muffin tin w\ pam
line the sides of the muffin space with a piece of bacon
brown some bob evans original recipe sausage (in the roll) and put a spoon full or so in each.
crack open 1 egg per cup and put ontop of sausage
bake @ 350-400 for 10 minutes until egg looks about done, then take out and sprinkle with cheese, put in over for another few minutes until cheese is bubbly.
They are extremely filling! when i first tried them i brough 2 to work and only ate 1.
        Everything is induction friendly
bacon, sausage, egg, cheese. then sometimes i put salsa onto, or dip them into sour cream. they are wonderful!

        just a thought......
there not quick to make, but if you do it ahead of time, they are a snap to grab outta the fridge and walk out!

Probably not the right place for this type of discussion. But, you really should avoid giving Atkins advice when you haven't done Atkins. Especially Induction related advice.

There are a lot of alternatives, and had you done Induction, you might be more aware of them. It's irresponsible to come in here and tell someone to have apples and honey for breakfast on Induction.

If it's not an option, it's because it's wrong not because you don't lose weight faster.

I think you'll find that everyone here is happy that you found a way to lose weight and we'll all congratulate you on it. However, it is not acceptable to interfere with others' weight loss journeys. You're welcome to offer support and you're welcome to offer advice, but you need to offer appropriate Atkins advice when you're in an Atkins specific section of this board.

Just to add to the crustless-quiche group...I make a mean chorizo pie. I cook a pound of chorizo (get the kind that's made without flour) and put it into a greased pie plate. Sprinkle some cheddar on top, then beat together 5 eggs and pour over the chorizo. Cook in a 350 oven for 25-30 minutes or until nice and brown. Cool and divide into portions. The chorizo is nice and spicy and you really can't taste the eggs. They can eaten with a fork, or held and eaten cold...I've done both.

oh ok...I get it....So if I don't follow all the induction rules to a 't' I should not share my own low-carb, Atkins experience.

However, I still stand by my original point that a small granny smith apple (with an optional touch of honey and peanut butter) would not interfere with Atkin's induction phase. Granted, if you're on a 20 carb limit, that would be half (or more) of your daily amount....but there's nothing wrong with that if you happen to enjoy apples and you're GETTING BORED with your current food selections! And what's wrong with eating the majority of your carbs in the morning? I do it every day. Besides, I've still not seen anyone else come up with a better idea for a quick, tasty on-the-go food.

I don't know why I bother taking the bait, or why you bother putting it out there repeatedly, but here goes:

Oxymoron. What you're doing is precisely that, your "own" low-carb. Which is fine. People keep telling you that. All we're asking is that you not share those ideas in the forum specifically for people following the Atkins Induction plan, which clearly states that apples are not allowed until you get to the later phases of OWL.

Perfectly valid point FOR OWL, not induction. We're not trying to start a fight here, we just want to properly categorize your advice where it belongs. And there have been plenty of good ideas for quick, tasty on-the-go foods. My crustless quiche takes 1 minute in the morning if I want it hot, or 0 minutes if I want it cold. And it only takes 10 minutes of prep time on one day to give me 12 days worth of quiche. I'd take a hot piece of cheesy, meaty quiche over an apple any day.

No, you shouldn't share your own non-Atkins low carb experience in the Atkins-related forums. Yes, you should work on reading comprehension.

And how exactly is it that you would know, not having done Induction?

What's wrong with it is that both apples and honey have simple sugars which will cause a rapid increase in blood sugar, even at ~10g, causing the production of insulin, and, if you'd read the book, you'd realize excess insulin and the body's improper use of said insulin causes the storage of fat.

So, having apples and honey on Induction is flat out wrong.

Blood sugar and insulin have to be stabilized during Induction. Period. No arguing.

If someone is bored with their food choices after 2 weeks, they are welcome (and encouraged) to move to OWL. Peanut butter can be introduced 2 weeks after that. Apples in 7 weeks.

                  Insulin spikes.

And we've covered that you're not doing Atkins.

If you had been reading for content, you would have.

Please have your philosophical debates in another forum. Consider this warning that your future posts in this thread will be removed if they do not address Induction-friendly breakfast ideas.
