Re: Do you ever have problems being humble?

This is an awesome thread! I love reading what you have said about your experiences and outlooks!

For me, it is sooo easy to be humble. I went from a 325-pound person to one with still 96 pounds to lose. That keeps me pretty humble! Even still, at 125 pounds (or wherever I end up), I think I'll still be who I am today, only less of me... *lol*

The compliments really help motivate and remind me what a difference Atkins has made in my life. I never feel like getting big headed, because I realize I do not own my weight I only manage it. All of us know a few weeks or months of bad eating would put us right back where we started.

I love compliments, but am uncomfortable with them still.
I think if I let the weight loss success go to my head, I will be more inclined to cheat - but that is probably a character flaw, rather than the general rule for everyone.

I would like to be able to look in the mirror every day and not have fat goggles on - because I still see imperfections, so don't believe the compliments, especially if they come from my hubby

No, I don't even try to be humble. Being humble is for losers. I changed my whole freaking life to be thin. My diet and my life have changed radically. I eat less. I run up and down the dang street every morning (My street is 1 mile long). I have accomplished what I set out to do. It's all mind over matter. You either want to change your life or you don't. I wanted to.

I'm married now, but it's amazing how people treat you differently when you are thin and handsome. And more amazing is the many long looks I get from the opposite sex. Now I can look them in the eye and confidently think, "don't even think about it." SCP

Re: Do you ever have problems being humble?

For me it depends on the day.

For the longest time I had no idea how to take the compliments. It was really awkward and embarrassing. It still is sometimes. I've learned to simply smile and say 'thank you', but that doesn't always mean it's less awkward or hard to accept without spilling into the old, "Thanks, but my butt's still too big, I could still stand to lose another 20lbs...etc" thing.

Other times I feel fantastic and if someone makes the mistake of saying something to me about it on that day...LOL...watch out! I start gushing about my WOE, the exercise, the mind set, the everything.

I love what you said and how you said it, Sheila Wonderfully put. My website is out there for the exact same reason and it's AMAZING when people write to me and let me know that what I've put out there has made a difference in the way they see things and how they take care of themselves. I love that!
