Hi everyone... a quick query: I can't get vitamins without iron here in Italy, so I've been ordering Atkins Basic #3 from the UK. I get it from the UK because I always have customs problems with any food or medicines from the States. Well...ordered another couple of boxes the other day and the online store emailed me back to say that they had been supplied with Atkins Basic #1 instead of #3, and would I accept that instead. Well, the other online low carb stores in the UK seem not to have Basic #3 either. I'm thinking of accepting #1 as I'm now at goal, so actual loss isn't an issue... does anyone have experience of Basic #1? Or advice...? Also... is Atkins discontinuing Basic #3 or something, seeing as it's so hard to come by now in the UK?

    Thanks for any thoughts...
    Sal

    Re: Atkins supplements

Sorry can't answer your question as i've never tried either but., I know that here everything atkins seems to be going on 'clearance'. I saw the basic 3 vitamins for 75% off the other day, and i got bakemix that was regular 12.95 for only $5. They did declare bankruptcy not too long ago..perhaps they're getting out of the 'products' business?

Have you looked at 'seniors' suppliments? I've heard that they normally don't have iron, but do have the needed vit. and minerals.

Thanks Sadie... Interesting what you say about Atkins products going on clearance. It had crossed my mind that the recent difficulties in getting supplies was probably something to do with the bankruptcy. Who knows?

I'll do a search on the 'Seniors' vits and see if I can get them from England.

      Thanks again...

        Re: Atkins supplements

I use Centrum Silver or a store brand that is comparable to it. It is much chepaer than buying the Atkins brand vitamins. I can't really comment on the Atkins vitamins because I have never used them.

We have an Atkins store here at ADBB, and supplements are sold there. A portion of proceeeds go to pay for this board. I'm not sure about buying vitamins overseas, and if there are any legal issues with it... so make to ask someone!

I don't want anyone the subject of a body cavity search over supplements!

            Re: Atkins supplements

I fully understand why it's strongly suggested to take vitamins without iron. However, the ones I take DO contain iron, and my blood chemistry always comes out just fine and dandy. And...on occasion I've been rejected as a blood donor because my iron levels weren't high enough.

Just throwing that in, for whatever it's worth. Perhaps I'm one of those folks who have low iron stores to begin with??
