    Re: Weightloss formula

Is it the '1 pound weight = 3500 calories' one?
So to lose 1 pound a week you need to eat 500 calories less per day.
    Theoretically of course!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Yep. Or you can do a combination of exercise (burn 500 and still eat your 500 calories) and eating (burn 250 calories via exercise, eat 250 calories less a day= 500 calories) to get there.

As someone who's been on Atkins a long time and who is well out of 14-day induction (a little disclaimer there) I count calories in addition to counting my carbs. Elizellen and Brook are both right

3500 calories either burned or stored = 1 pound.

To lose weight, a very general way to figure this would be to take your BMR from here, based on your activity and metabolism. Calculate how many total calories you have to lose by multiplying the number of pounds to lose by 3500. Then divide this number by the number of days you'd like to achieve this goal. Subtract the result from your BMR. This will be the new caloric total. You will usually wish to split the difference, as Brook stated, by burning half the calories to a third of the calories through exercise. The other third to a half is simply reduction in overall caloric intake.
