  • Newbie with Headaches

Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Deb and I'm new to the Atkins Plan. I just started the Induction Phase a couple of days ago and I'm happy with the fact I am not staving like on most diets I have tried. The only thing are the TERRIBLE HEADACHES I'm having. I hope they go away soon. I know this is normal but is there anything I can do to help the blinding pain? It's hard to even sleep because they are so bad.
I'm taking this one day at a time and if you have any experiences you've had and want to share with me that would be greatly appreciated. I have a long
way to go since I currently weigh 280 lbs at 5'4 height. This is something that I must do because I'm tired of being exhausted and out of breath just walking a flight of stairs.
    Thank you for listening. Deb

    Re: Newbie with Headaches

    First welcome aboard !!!
Indeed this is quite normal, for some of us, although I must say if this takes more than a couple of days you need to contact a doctor for sure and let yourself be checked.
Make sure you drink a LOT of water and take vitamin supps.
I hope this will go over soon, cause having headaches is NO FUN !

      Re: Newbie with Headaches

I had headaches for the first week. Take the vitamins like Soliwit suggested. Your body is going through a big change and sometimes this is what happens as we detox. Just to give you hope... I haven't had a headache since April. I used to have them at least every other day.

        THANK YOU
To know that the headaches should only last a few days is a relief.

          Thank you Soliwit and Momtofour
I will take vitamins and minerals and drink tons of water. It does help to know I'm not alone in this journey.

            Re: Newbie with Headaches

DJ, I agree with taking vitamins, and drinking lots, and the first week is usually a tough one. I too started 9 months ago at 277 lbs, and was always exhausted, had no energy, so I know where you're coming from. Now I am down 84 lbs, and 28 lbs from my goal weight. So hang tough girl, and you will succeed, and you're in the right place for support and encouragement.

Hi DJ welcome to our ADBB family

I am about an inch taller than you but I started out at the same 280 pounds so know how you must be feeling about just having to succeed for your health's sake

Hopefully your headaches will diminish and disappear soon - but you can take your normal headache pills unless they have sugar and starch in them. chek the info on the bottle and ask here if you are not sure of any ingredients.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
