Re: Reasonable weekly weight loss?
I know that I would be happy with 100lbs in a week but I doubt that's going to happen
. The medical industry says a healthy rate of weight loss is around 2lbs/week. Depending on how your body reacts to this diet, you should lose that and more. My body is kind of stubborn so I don't really look for more than 2lbs/wk on average.

Re: Reasonable weekly weight loss?
I lost about 3 lbs a week when I started then It dropped off to 2 lbs now I lose about 1 pound a week sometimes more. Everyone is so different you may be like some of thos on here and lose a pound a day for a month or Like another girl who lost 100 lbs in 5 months Most won't lose that fast but, you never know it's all up to your own body and how it wants to lose.

Re: Reasonable weekly weight loss?
In my opinion and experience there is no such thing as a 'weekly weight loss' on Atkins or low carb. I lost my weight in whooshes (large batches), but NOT a steady downward spiral. Dr. Atkins mentions this in DANDR to not expect a continual downward spiral. Patience and diligence are key.
There were always 2 weeks out of the month I'd lose like crazy, and 2 weeks I'd maintain/gain a little (due to hormonal cycle). Whatever gain I had ALWAYS came back off plus more. And I never cheated. Not sure if this is the same with males or not (regarding not being a continual downward spiral but I suspect not with them either).Keep doing what you're doing & you'll keep getting what you're getting!!!213.5/126-131/140, 5'5" age 33Original Goal: 160Size 22/4-6-8/8Start BMI: 35.5Current BMI: 21.8MaintenanceStarted Low Carbing 5/23/03Started Atkins 6/11/03

Re: Reasonable weekly weight loss?
Really, it depends on so many variables. And even then, in a vacuum, there's no real answer to that question. I lost 5 pounds this week. Other weeks I've lost none. Nothing's changed, but sometimes weight just does that, especially during plateaus and other circumstances which affect weight loss to some degree:
Are you exercising?
Are you eating properly?
What is your metabolism?
Are you female?
Are you taking medication?
Are you suffering from a medical ailment that can stall weight loss?
How overweight are you?
How old are you?

Re: Reasonable weekly weight loss?
The first 5 months when I was on extended induction, I was losing about 2-3 lbs/week. Of course there were weeks I would lose 1 lb, and some I would lose 4-5 lbs. Moving into OWL, I slowed down a bit, to 1-2 lbs a week. I should mention that I exercise 6-7 days a week, very rigorously. But everyone is different, have different metabolisms, and some are stricter than others!
