  • Horrible disaster! Faulty scales!

Yesterday I jumped on my crappy old scales and they said I had put on 8 kgs in a week! I maintain this is impossible, as I've been sticking strictly to my OWL at around 35 carbs per day. As I knew the scales were old and probably dodgy, I went out and bought new ones.

Fellow Atkineers, it was HORRIBLE! On the new ones I weigh 115 kgs, and I thought I was dosn to 92kgs. I am berating myself for not buying new ones at the start, but I was budgeting for the car's annual registration.

So, I've decided to kick start with a new 2 weeks on Induction and go on from there. Boy, am I disappointed though. Instead of being 1/3 of the way to my goal, (16 kgs lost from4, it seems I was about 131 when I staretd, not 108, so I have 55 to go (instead of 48 all up), and am only 22.5% of the way.

Still, it's a lot better than nothing, I guess.

LESSON - to all new folk - check/calibrate your scales BEFORE you start!

    Hi Analog,

I'm sure you're disappointed with the numbers, but you really did lose the same number of pounds, you're just a bit further away from goal!

Same thing happened to me. I bought a new digital scale and I weighed 7lbs more than my old scale.

            Re: Horrible disaster! Faulty scales!

Thanks for all the support, guys and gals. Helping to kep me on track.

Well, yesterday I got them to weigh me at the gym. Even with clothes on it was 112.3kgs (2.7 less than at home) but I've decided to just stick with the home scales now. They are new, they should stay stable (I have put them on a piece of wall board over the carpet) and they will do uintil THE END (or 60kgs, whichever comes first!).

Downside, the gym fellow kept getting wildly crazy blood pressure readings for me so I'll have to try and find a doctor to get it done properly. I mean, the thing was just battery powered, and the little tube that goes to the arm cuff kept falling out of the machine. Very dodgy, I thought (I seem to be cursed with crappy technology here ).

This second stab at induction going well, have not deviated once, whereas the first time I had such a chronic headache I had a real coffee miday through day 2. No headaches or sickies this time, I feel great.

Sounds good! Make sure you place the scale in the same spot all the time.
              Keep up the great work!
