  • Poll, Do you think ADBB played a part in your success

I was just posting a topic to welcome a new guy and I wondered how many of you think this board has been a part of your weight loss success.
We use to talk about this WOE being a three-legged stool, diet/water/exercise and without one leg, the stool doesn't stand. My stool has 4 legs, and the 4th is ADBB.
So, how many feel that this board has been, in some way, been a part of your success.

    Absolutely, I think it has.

While I like this board, it really has been hard work on my part

It has been a big part of my success. If I had given up visiting ADBB I would have given up Atkins too.....it's what I do with diets. Coming here and seeing everyone's success is a big motivation to stick with it. And all the challenges also play an important role. I feel that we're all a big family here and we get and give support. I don't get this kind of support outside of ADBB...not even close.

I have only been around a short time and I can say without the support of everyone here on the I would have quit by now! I know it.

Or could ADBB be the seat of the stool, hummmm, holding it all together!

Personally, I've found the support unbelieveably helpful. I can't say that I wouldn't be following this WOE, but ADBB made it so much easier! Knowing I can come here, almost anytime of the day or evening, and get the support that I need! The friendships and laughter is awesome!

Also, sharing learned information, success and struggles, help me to really think about those times and reinforces my WOL. It helps me as much as I hope it helps the new atkinseer!

I think it's the seat of the stool with glue on it.

Absolutely yes! THis board has played an integral part in my success, and I probably would've quit after 2 months, had it not been for all the wonderfully supportive and motivational people on here!

Re: Poll, Do you think ADBB played a part in your success

I say definitely. I used to stop by and read everyday and I did lose weight. However I also was still eating frankenfoods, drank liters of diet soda, and didn't excercise.

Since I signed up and started posting everything has been perfect - no soda, no frankenfoods, no ice cream, and I excercise. Being part of the group gave me a sense of responsibility. I could lie to myself but not to others, I guess. Weird.

I think I would have done ok without the board, but only just ok, and the day my weight loss started to slow down, I think I would have really had a huge struggle on my hands.

Coming here, and seeing that other regular folks just like myself were able to lose weight on this diet and also to see that it's normal to have pauses in weight loss, and that it was also normal to mourn the loss of what I thought were my friends (chocolate, etc)... all of that gave me great comfort and it made the journey much easier.
The Before and After picture section was a tremendous inspiration to me as well. I'm not much of a goal-oriented person, but I'm really really shallow..lol..and I wanted pictures of my own to post!
