Anyone know about prescription drugs?

I'm sick with an upper respiratory infection.
Doc prescribed the following:

Z-pack (antibiotic)
Tussion (with codiene)
Diflucan

Do I have to worry about these? I'm on induction by the way.

I'm sorry you're sick!! Don't worry about your meds .. just rest up, drink alot of water and take your vitamins and GET BETTER!

I agree with Betty. Take your medications and get better. The bottom line of Atkins is improved health. So consider those medications as part of your Atkins.

Personally, I retain water whenever I take antibiotics (especially ones like the Z-pack). But after I finish the antibiotics I lose the water weight. But it's better to retain some water than it is to end up in the hospital in worse condition!

Take care of yourself. Rest, drink fluids. I hope you feel better.

Z-packs are antibiotics-very strong, that's why you take 2 the first day, one the next until gone (usually a 5-6 day treatment). Usually prescribed for Bronchitis or bacterial viruses

Tussion is a cough suppressant. Lovely stuff. Codeine is the bomb if you're not allergic to it. Makes ya drowsy
Diflucan is a yeast infection medicine in a pill. One dose and it works by time releasing medicine to kill off yeast. Not sure why he gave you that, unless you're prone to yeast infections while taking antibiotics, but Zpacks usually don't in most patients.

Nothing to really worry about. No steroidal medicines here that should mess up your plan.

Just get lots of rest, lots of liquids and you'll feel better in no time.

YUP be sure to take your meds I had to way back about 4 months after I started for Pnemonia EWWW it was Horrible I had to be on steroids and I still did great.

Thanks everyone. I guess I was worried about cravings. My cough syrup tastes like candy, so it must have sugar in it. So far, no cravings though. Heck, my stomach is so upset on these meds, I don't have to worry about wanting to eat anything.

Codeine cough syrup tastes so good...but it made me dizzy and projectile vomit! So if you are feeling sick to your stomach, it may be the codeine.

I can't remember the label of the tussion...but see if it needs to be taken on a full or empty stomach. That will make alot of difference in how you feel. I remember it tasting like fire syrup when I was sick, but to get rid of the cough, I would have drank lighter fluid if I had to.

If you need it on a full stomach, eat something with protein if you can (like scrambled eggs). If on empty stomach, then make sure you wait at least 2 hours after you eat to take it.

Sometimes, if a strong medicine requires food, I'll eat a little, take the medicine, then eat more on top of it. It helps buffer it. Works real well with steroidals such as prednisone.

Give it a day or two...let the zpack kick in and you'll be better in no time!
