  • New to Atkins

    Hello Everyone,

Is it normal to lose a lot of weight and then stop in the first two weeks?? I am not losing anymore and know that I haven't cheated. Thanks!!

    Re: New to Atkins

    Hi Sandman.

Yes it is very normal. To be honest people do lose weight at different speeds. But it is quite normal to go through what you are experiencing.

If you keep on with the programme you will start losing weight again.

As you have lost a fair amount of weight already, your body is currently stabling itself and getting used to your new weight.

    (Does that make sense?)

    Keep up the good work.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Yes it's perfectly normal! I lost 16lbs, then stopped losing any for a few weeks, but just yesterday I weighed myself and I've lost another 2lbs, so I'm starting to lose weight again!

So just hang in there, it get's better, and it's so worth it!

Wow, what great responses!! I am very impressed with the support that is provided here. Many times, a person may think that they are the "only one that is going through this" and by having all of you here, it makes a big difference. I've been reading many of what's posted here and its all very helpful. In other words....thank you!!!!

I will stick with it and make it count. By the way....anyone have any recipes for something sweet?? I still crave something after I eat. Have lost 20lbs in 2 weeks...yes, I can't believe it!! I am at 240 and want to get to 195-200. Ok, this was supposed to be a quick reply, lol.... Have a good one everyone!!

                    Re: New to Atkins

You will be amazed how quickly your sweet tooth disappears if you dont indulge it. I can't eat cherry tomatoes any more - they are far too sweet for me.

Lots of folk experiment with the various cream cheese and sugar-free jello recepes. I find them too sweet but will sometimes whip something up with geletine, a little splenda and vanila extract or berries for flavour. (Berries are not for induction) On induction you can have up to 4 oz of cheese a day. Some folk mix cream cheese with unsweetened cocoa powder. I don't like that.

In short it is best to kill the sweet tooth as quickly as possible - try other treats - Macadamia Nuts are wonderful - sometimes I will have a couple of slices of smoked salmon.

                    Induction rules here:

Drink lots and lots of water.

                    Excercise is not optional.

                    Be a succesful looser!
