You'll have to double check, but from what I understand the salads are not Induction friendly according to the fine print on the menues, neither are the wraps.

They USED to have an Atkins menu that included a yummy spinach salad. The salad was induction friendly if you threw away the almonds and only ate half the salad. Unfortunately, they did away with it. You can have them hand-make you a spinach salad, but it winds up costing a lot. You're better off going somewhere else...

Thanks for that info JoAnne. I don't eat at fast food places often, so I didn't know Subway removed their Atkins menu....

I don't know if Subways are the same everywhere, but I eat there frequently. You can choose what is on your salad. I have lettuce, spinach, tomato, cucumber, and cheese. They still have Atkins friendly suggestions listed in my local Subway. I usually get the tuna or turkey on my salad. They are both listed in the Atkins friendly list on the counter. There is no sugar added to these at my Subway. They have 2 kinds of 2 carb per serving dressings, ranch and a southwest kind. You have to specify the Atkins dressing. You could also do a vinegar and oil dressing. I don't understand what could possibly be wrong with these choices?

I looked up Subways on their official site. They no longer list an "Atkins" Menu, but rather a "carb conscious menu". http://www.subway.com/applications/N...t.aspx?id=carb

The only carb conscious salad listed on the website is the tuna salad at 8 net carbs per serving.

There are other salads available http://www.subway.com/applications/N....aspx?id=salad
The one with the lowest carbs is the Grilled Chicken with spinach coming in at 11 total carbs, 4 grams fiber, for a net of 7. This is without dressing.

According to the site there is 1 Atkins dressing available--the Sweet as Honey Mustard. It has 1 net carb per serving. So one Grilled Chicken with spinach salad and the Atkins dressing will yield 8 net carbs. Not bad in terms of carbs, though most people on Induction try not to eat about 40% of their daily carb intake on 1 meal.

I have always eaten at Subway and I do their salad. Not knowing that their tuna was Atkins friendly, I stayed away from it and just did what I knew to be legal; They will make any of their sandwiches into salads so I would often have ham and cheese, beef or chicken.
I also just did the oil and vinegar

That's the great thing about Subway. You don't have to order the salad from the menu. You can create your own so that it has only ingredients that appropriate for your stage of Atkins. They are also too big to eat in one sitting. I get the tuna salad at 8 net carbs and eat half. That's a great lunch.

They have different dressings at different Subways I guess. Mine has showed me the bottle that the southwest dressing comes in, so that I could check ingredients. It tastes great and it is Atkins legal.

Frankly as long as you stay within the boundaries of your phase of Atkins, you should do fine with the salads. But there are people who look at the "low carb" menues and think "Great, I can eat this and still be legal for Atkins---eventhough it has watermelon, carrots, kidney beans, etc."

So just be ware of the limitations you have on your phase of Atkins. As a wise man once told me: "Trust no one. Do it yourself. No excuses."
