Awesome on all of the exercise...that'll really help with the belly, that's for sure.
Do you have the DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book? If not, you'll want to get one. But, take a look around the forum, there are lot's of stickies with good information, from Induction all the way through maintenance.
See you around!Shelly

Re: Hey i am new!! and need help
depending on what kind of tunas that could actually be dangerous from the mercury in the fish.
Still the place to start for all teens is with their doctor for a complete check up and then making dietary changes.
Join our exercise challenges and keep your exercise motivation high. Avoiding a public slugging is very motivation around here.

Re: Hey i am new!! and need help
I agree with 2big. She and the book advise that you discuss this with your doctor (especially since you are still a growing teen) and with your parents. In DANDR, there is info about which blood tests to ask to have so you have something to compare to as time goes by, so bring the book with you when you go in.
Your parents can be your biggest cheerleaders, so have them read the book too so they understand what this is all about and they can help you out.
Also, here's something written by Not2Late about teens and Atkins.
If you're serious about doing this, and you want to do it right, so that you'll maximize the effects of the diet, you'll give the book a read, and visit your doctor...because that's the right thing to do. Nothing is more important than your health, especially since you are still growing, right? It's highly recommend that a teen not try this or any other diet unless they are monitored by a physician. Your doctor should be seeing you at least monthly to check your weight loss rate (to make sure you aren't losing too quickly), your blood work and other things. See, you're still growing and developing, so your nutritional needs are very different from us older folks.
The recommended low carb plan is described in the book Feed your kids well by Fred Pescatore, MD. Dr. Pescatore was the Associate Director of the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine during much of the 1990s. The diet described in his book is the diet that the Atkins Center used for children and teens (at least that's what Dr. Atkin's introduction in the book says). This diet is much more nutritionally suitable for a growing teen than the Atkins Diet.
If you're like me you just want to get this weight loss thing done! But I want to do it right the first time and not drag this out any longer than I have to.
Along with reading the book and talking with your doctor and parents, take time to read the stickies in the different forums. The 14-day Induction forum would be a good place to start.
All the best to you, and let us know how it goes!
