  • Please Help!

    This is embarrasing and I hate to post it but I've had the runs for about 5 days and can't figure out why!!!!! I have been doing a fairly clean induction - you can see for yourself here: http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...l?Owner=Snaggs

    I have been sticking with around 20 g carbs per day and have been eating my veggies - yesterday was a little different because I ate mostly cooked veggies and no salad , but it still doesn't explain what I'm going through. It's not painful or anything but whatever I'm eating is going right through me. I'm thinking of sticking with just protein and fat for a day or two just to see if it stops and, if it does, reintroduce induction legal foods I've been eating to find the culprit.

    Also, I have been drinking about 100 oz of water a day - give or take a glass or two. I'm almost thinking that maybe it's be cause of too much water????

    Has this happened to anyone????

    That's a very common thing in the first two weeks. After that, the opposite happens, which is just as bad!

    Start taking something like flax seed meal. It will help - you actually need more fiber, not less, so don't give up on the veggies!

      You are not drinking too much water. Many of us drink lots more then that

        Ok - let me clarify, I'm beyond my first 2 weeks of induction and starting my 3rd week of extended for a total of almost 4 weeks. Everything has been normal up to 5 days ago....but I'll keep what you said in mind - thanx!

          I notice this when I first up my protein I don't know why it happens it just does. LOL. Have you upped your protein intake??? Also what may be happeing is your bodyu on this clean induction is getting rid of yeast build up. Have you been on Antibiotics or have you ever done a clean induction. SOme people get the runs with this Yeast die off others get stomach cramps so this may very well be what is going on. If anything this will get better in a few days Just keep drinking you wanna get rid of that stuff. It will help your body to use the stuff your body needs more efficiently. The best thing I would do is get some Pro Biotics and take that try and get some good bacterial flora in your gut and that should help you out.

              5 days of right through you diareahha needs to be addressed by your doc as you are losing electrolytes.

              it could be from your Atkins it could be from something else.

              the cure for runs is more fiber like psyllium as that will absorb some of the fluids and bulk up your stools.

                Thanks girls! I havn't been taking any meds and am not great about keeping up with my supplements. I'll try the fiber thing and see if that works, otherwise next payday I'll get that digestive flora stuff. At this point, I'm not really thinking this is warranting seeing a doctor, yet but I might if nothing seems to help - they'll probably just tell me to eat carbs *rolling eyes*

                  If you can't see your doctor until payday, do, at least, pick up some Immodium, and take as directed. The problem is most often self limiting, but if it goes on for an extended period, can be quite dangerous. Remember, it may have nothing to do with your diet, at all.

                  Please don't just shrug off the problem -- we want to keep you around, and healthy!

                    Thanks for the input. I've been doing some research on it and wait it out a few more days. I haven't been having any of the dehydration symptoms, so I'm not worried. I had a fiber supplement today so I should be seeing some results tomorrow. I promise that if it keeps up much longer, I'll go see the DR.

                      It's funny you post this...I was just going to do the same. For me it has only been today. I'm thinking it's probably the turnip or cauliflower cuz those were the only new things I added to my diet.
