Ya but didn't he gorge the week before and gain like 14 for strategy?? I don't remember but, He is doing awesome. Yes, exercise and Watching diet play a huge part in Weight loss. I know I wouldn't be where I am now without having exercised.

I LOVE that show. Its the only thing I watch religiously. I can't wait for the finale...the results are jaw-dropping. The trainers are also great. Jillian has a great diet and fitness book called "Winning by Losing" which I can't recommend highly enough.

Anyhoo...the contestant's name was Matt and he did lose 26 lbs this week, after gaining 12 last week. This was a strategic move on his part. He deliberately overrate and slouched last week in order to lose more the week after. All the extra calories basically had his metabolism going into ovedrive. Your body reacts very sharply on a calorie-restricted diet...slowing down your metabolism to compensate for the fewer calories...thus leading to the dreaded "plateau" or even worse, gaining weight. An occasional planned cheat will sometimes do wonders...especially if you're doing some intense exercise at the same time.

You know, it's funny you say that, cuz sometimes when I have cheated I will notice a big drop when I go back on again...Interesting...(DON'T DO THIS AT HOME) I don't recommend it ppl...It makes you want to keep cheating!!!

He was exempt from being eliminated, so his plan was to gain a bit and then have a big drop the next week.

This show kind of rubs me the wrong way somehow. I mean, I'm so happy for these folks that they're losing weight, and I hope they really are learning how to change their lifestyles so that they can maintain this...but ....I dunno what it is...it just rubs me the wrong way.

I agree and I have also experienced this. But like I said, it should be planned strategically...only in instances when weight loss has halted or slowed down considerably. This will break a plateau...many swear by this on-off again cyclic ketogenic diet because your body is constantly switching gears...it doesn't get a chance to adapt to your eating patterns and thus slow down the metabolism.
