Re: So , why are we so tough at ADBB about following Atkins to the letter?

I totally agree with this post, Cleo. I've heard many times how unfair we are here at ADBB. How can we expect people to do Atkins by the book? Yes, it is hard to lose weight. That is why ADBB was formed. People helping people. Everyone understands the frustration and the cravings and the stress that we all experience. It isn't easy for anyone. We all fight the day by day battle to overcome our addictions to food. We all have temptations and doubts. Thats what its all about, if it were easy then everyone would be thin. Everyone would be healthy and not even need the ADBB or the DANDR. However, we do need each other. We do need to read our books and find out how the program works. We are all human. We all need to feel loved and understood. ADBB provides us the support we need. Nobody is turned away here. We are all in the same boat and learn from each other's success's. If you want to succeed, then don't argue with the people who are making it happen, do what they are doing and you will succeed too.

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not.

Great post Cleo, you have a wonderful way of getting things across, and you are so right too! We are successful on this WOE because we are so strict about it, and determined and ready for change. That's what makes us all so unique, is the committment to follow what Dr. Atkins set forth in his book.

Hey Cleo!! Happy Thanks giving to you and all the American ADBB'ers first of all!

I think the term you are looking for from you post is "tough love", I know there are parents who believe in that method of parenting especially when it comes to raising teenagers Not that I think you are raising us or something lol but its that "i love you but i have to be strict because i love you" type of attitude right?

That's right, diva. It's not easy to be tough on peoples' paradigms. For so many years we've done what we have programmed ourselves to do. In order to change our lives we have to change what we've always done into something successful and be who we need to be. Sometimes that's really hard, and hearing someone perceptably boss us about isn't any fun.

                          {{{shelly}}} I had to re-read it today myself. *l*

In the Netherlands we have this saying : soft healers make stinking wounds......
Probably this sounds ugly, but well, it says it all don't it?
What we want is to be truly healed, not just hear nice words and feel good about ourselves even though we cheat our *** off, but look ourselves in the eyes and KNOW we are on the right path and we got friends besides us that make us strong.
                            Happy Thanksgiving everyone !!!

Fantastic post! I was a witness to the banning so therefore, I left as well. You know it really felt like we were talking to smokers who were smoking through the hole in their throats and they could not understand it. I can't think of a better analagy can you Betty? When I started this woe almost 6 years ago there were no frankenfoods and only those who were tough on me did I respect the most.
