No, I'm not a valley girl.....but I figure you may be relishing in my lack of posts lately
. Anyways, I'm not going to be around much for a while and will have to relinquish my spot in all challenges but will probably pick up on the next round of them in a couple of weeks. My dad has lung and brain cancer that will be aggresively treated the next couple of weeks and I am the only one in my family who is capable of handling this so I'm by his side when the doc's haven't kicked me out. I actually thought I was going to have to pull the plug today but apparently everything is starting to become responsive and he's is relatively unharmed by any of the masses outside of the pressure that is in his head. I broke the news to him today what was happening and his chances of being able to live mostly functional are limited to about 6-14 months - maybe more if the cancers are responsive to the radiation treatment and any future chemo. He is very cognative so I asked him if he wanted to live knowing he will die as long as he can enjoy himself for at least 6 months or just go peacefully and he decided to kick this stuff in the BOOTAY! I'm pretty sure he has a good chance of pulling through for a long time as long as he is a VERY healthy man otherwise. I'll know the next couple of days if the cancer will respond. So, I'm doing well with my diet and am sticking with it so I don't bite my mom's head off. All she can think of is how expensive this will be.....but she doesn't have the attention span (alcoholic) to realize that most of this will be covered by gov't help and plus my dad is at UC Davis which is the most experimental but successful group in the US that may actually take him as their "study" and pay for everything - just for research. Plus, they can qualify for other help....I'll have to arrange that too but I'm ok with it. Anyways, my exercise is limited to walking right now - and I AM walking all over the place and have no time to keep up with any other exercise program. Thank goodness for Atkins - that's the only way I'm able to keep cool under fire right now. No blood sugar spikes to deal with.....Thank you DR A!!!!!
