So, my bf and I host a little holiday gettogether for our scooter club every year in late November, before all the Christmas hoopla starts and last night was the night.
What a great time...not a lot of folks could come, but those that were there, were enthusiastic.
We served 3 kinds of locally made sausage (OMG, this stuff is all so good!) and a HUGE tray of raw veggies with a blue cheese dip. As well we had a chunk of locally made smoked white cheddar (again, to die for!!)
One lady brought clam dip (basically clams and cream cheese) and while she also brought crackers and chips to eat it with, I used the raw veggies...it was so good!
For dessert, I made myself a little 3 minute chocolate cake from here
http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/index.html and I had that with a cup of decaf while others tucked into the brownie bar a friend brought. I had a good long sniff of it..lol..but I was just fine.
What was really the best (other than the whole social getting together aspect) was that everybody enjoyed the simple fare. They raved about the cheese and sausage, and the vegetarian in the group enjoyed the veggies, dip as well as the cheese.
Entertaining certainlly doesn't have to be fancy or fussy to be effective.
Any crackers, chips or dessert that was left over, went home with whoever done brung it!
Tonight is bf's semi-formal Christmas party and I'm really looking forward to the buffet! Gotta love a good buffet...they always have plenty of Atkins choices.
Pre-Atkins, I had trained bf in the art of visiting the dessert table. We'd each go up, take a few pieces of the different desserts, come back to the table, and I'd pretty much eat all of them. Things have sure changed!! I always bring Splenda with me and I'll have a cup of coffee or tea instead and focus on the social side of things.
I love the holidays!
