  • ZERO Coca Cola

The new Zero Cola by Coca Cola, it says 0 carbs, 0 fat, 0 calories... is it an acceptable drink during the induction phase??

Just wondering cuz it's not too bad and it satisfies the "soda" craving!!

    thanks!

    Re: ZERO Coca Cola

What is it sweetened with? Also, make sure and read the can/bottle and remember that you are only allowed 3 servings of sweeteners a day--one can/bottle is probably either 2 or 2 1/2 servings.

CC Zero is sweetened with aspartame. I'm a total Coca Cola nut and like that drink OK but I really like the Coke sweetened with splenda - there is no difference in flavor from the real thing. It is OK on induction but make sure you keep it down as you have to count every 8-12 oz as one of your allowed sweeteners and keep in mind the effect of caffeine....

          Re: ZERO Coca Cola

One of the big goals of induction is to cut our dependance upon certain foods and drinks. Soda is a big addiction problem for some, and therefore you might want to consider cutting out all soda during your initial 2-week induction.

If you must have a soda, Diet Rite is a better choice. It's made with Splenda, and has no caffeine, salt or no-no sweeteners. It can be found a a lot of grocery stores, but is hard to find at convenience stores. Hansens also makes a line of diet sodas that are acceptable...

And definitely watch your amounts and keep it in line with your sweetener allowances!!

My main beverage of choice is usually water, I've never been a big soda person - so I don't think I'll have any troubles with just dropping soda altogether! (especially if there's a chance that it will do more harm than good for me during the induction phase!)

But I do like lemonade too! I better check my other post (about the Crystal Light lemonade) and see what you guys are saying about it!

Which coke has Splenda? I've looked but I can only find the Diet Rite and Pepsi One. I rarely drink soda but it would be nice to try something different.

Coca Cola is now actually making three no calorie drinks. The been-around-forever Diet Coke, which is made with nutrasweet; a new version, still called Diet Coke, which is sweetened with Splenda; and Coke Zero, which is the Classic Coke formula, but sweetened with nutrasweet instead of sugar.

It should be right next to the other diet Coke. It has a yellow swirl on the label where diet Coke is while. It just says "Diet Coke with Splenda" on it. I find it at Super Wal-Mart.

once again Coke has done us dirty they only make CAFFEINE FREE DIET COKE with aspartame so no Atkinerr can drink any Diet Coke product.

Diet Rite had caffeine free splenda sweetened cola drinks.

                        Re: ZERO Coca Cola

Diet Coke is a different formula from the original Coca Cola. I've read that they have marketed the "zero" towards a male-oriented audience...since I guess Diet Coke seems like a female-preferred drink? So Coke zero tastes like a Diet original coca cola. I've tried it and didn't like it. Nor did I really like Diet Coke with Splenda. Caffeine stalls me but aspartame doesn't, so I drink caffeine free Diet Coke and Dr. Pepper. But I am in OWL not induction. For induction I didn't even drink Splenda sweetened drinks.

Yes, as I said previously, Coke Zero is the Classic Coke formula with nutrasweet substituting for the sugar. I did taste part of one a few weeks ago, and I found it to taste much better than regular diet coke -- which I've always hated. According to Allie, I guess it's because I'm male!

Funny i've had them both and never noticed the difference. I'm curious now to try them side by side. I'll have to do that this weekend.

I always thought diet coke was just regular coke formula without the sugar. wonder why they would use a different formula..seems kinda silly really. why mess with something that works (remember 'new coke'?)

Marketing is a reason. The name "Coke Zero" is somehow more appealing to the teenaged-20s crowd because it sounds youth oriented, as opposed to Diet Coke, which sounds more obese-oriented.
