    Re: Keeping the weight off

Thanks for that - makes a change reading something sensible about weight-loss! The bit about keeping up the physical activity is essential and so many people don't do any.

I know from experience how difficult it can be to get into an exercise regime but it does work....

yep if you don't keep your activity level up you have to cut back your eating even on Atkins.

I thought it was interesting to note in that article it said obses people with normal lepin levels had no results in using it for weight loss so lepin isn't the only answer.

Interesting article Labarum. I'd never heard of leptin before. Tks!

"The common denominator among people who do manage to maintain weight loss is a continuation of physical activity."
Well now, ain't that what we always preach here?

You can lose weight any number of ways, but you'll only keep it off permanently by regular rigorous exercise.

I agree. I think that the majority of people (and this is just my opinion) is that once most people reach their goal, they think they can relax and not focus on their weight loss. I know when I first started, there was a lady in my complex who was SKINNY and she'd go out running every morning. I thought to myself that if I was that skinny I wouldn't be putting so much effort into exercise. I knew I had to cause I was fat. That was my fat thinking. Now, I realize that she exercised to stay that size. I will have to exercise the rest of my life daily to keep the weight off once I reach my goal too. I guess I got educated and learned the secret of weight loss and maintenance from doing this WOE. I guess thats why they call it a life-style.

That is sooooooooooooo true. People ask me all the time why I exercise so much. They tell me "you're skinny enough." Folks, it ain't about being skinny enough. Its about staying HEALTHY. I long ago gave up the notion that Atkins is just about losing weight. Its about a revelation that you can be healthy, strong and active for the rest of your life by giving your body the fuel it needs to perform at its best.

Our devoted Dr. Atkins led by example. He ate the right foods combined with daily exercise (he walked to work 2 miles each way and played tennis regularly at age 72!!)

I wanna be the best I can be. That's why I push myself. I refuse to settle.
