    Re: This isn't a Diet.

Here, Here, Cleo! Eloquently said as always. I NEVER refer to this as a diet, because to me it definately is NOT! It is my new adapted way of eating, and I will continue with a low carb regime, even when I hit my goal weight! Why would I want to change the way I feel and look, after working so hard to get there? Why would I want to start wearing bigger unfashionable clothes, when I am now in small, chique clothes? Why would I want to start getting those hunger pangs, and cravings, when I am completely satisfied? I could go on and on, but the conclusion is, I have new good, healthing eating habits now, which I do not intend to change!!!

I agree totally with Cleo's peregrinations, and it's prompted me to look up the word 'diet' in my Chambers 20th century dictionary. In my lexicon, I've always used it as described below. That's why those short term fads are properly called fad or crash diets (cause you'll crash once you come off 'em!).

Noun. A mode of living, now only with especial reference to food; planned or prescribed selection of food, allowance of provisions (obscure).

I can't stress this enough to people - it has to be a Way of Life!

The whole Low fat/Low cal world out there pushes people to lose weight, but I believe it would be better for people to stay fat than to go on a temporary diet!

It's from personal history that I am speaking from. Perhaps if I had not gone of so many diets and been so successful, that I wouldn't have soo much to loose!

When I was on Weight Watchers I lost 30 kilos or 66 pounds, gained confidence, hope and a girlfriend. But the inevitable rebound took all those away (except girlfriend (now fiancee) coz she luvs me ). I gained 95 kilos or 209 pounds!!!

My Dad said one day that 'we should go back on Weight Watchers because it was working' and I said to him no, because it didn't work - I couldn't do it for the rest of my life!

The change in eating HAS to be a Way of Life or else there is devastating consequences!

I just might add that I am very grateful to Dr Atkins for crusading this diet! He is my personal hero!
