I participated in a 3-hour Spinathon at the base gym on Saturday morning and I learned some very important lessons (beyond the need for padded shorts!) . . .
1. I should pack some almonds with me to eat during the breaks
2. I should pack some thawed "previously frozen" raspberries so I can have something light and fruity while other participants are having facility-provided oranges and bananas.
3. I should never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER
have scrambled eggs for breakfast before an endurance event! Must learn to thaw bacon quickly without the benefit of a microwave!!!
It was a great experience and I'm thrilled that I was able to complete it. There were a few egg-induced moments during the first hour that I thought I was going to have to quit. Of course, that could also have been induced by the 2-count jumps the instructor had us doing!
The second hour was an endurance ride and the third hour was a strength ride that ended with an 11.5 minute steep climb.
I have to say that I feel pretty darn proud of myself, not only for dragging my carcass out of bed early on a wintry Saturday morning, but for making it through the whole ride.
I also have to give HUGE thanks to my 10-year old dd. Dh unexpectedly had to work Saturday morning and so she spent those 3 hours sitting outside the spinning room on the cold, hard hallway floor reading books and she only complained twice.
I think that is a pretty selfless act for someone so young. I'm so proud of her!!!
