  • How can we help you?

You know, this is a pretty big board with a pretty huge membership, and we all have something in common-- we all want to know more, achieve more and have great health.

A good support board should provide all of those things. I believe we do-- still, maybe there's something you need. Maybe a little extra positive vibes. Maybe you don't know how to use the board. Perhaps you need a more intimate support circle that will help motivate you.

Do you want to be bossed around or do you need more gentle nudging? Do you prefer success stories and pictures, or do you want the facts and you'll deal with your own success as your motivation?

Whatever it is, here at ADBB we strive to be the finest resource and support group for Atkineers the world over. We're over 20,000 members strong, and growing everyday, and for good reason.

Still, it's each and every unique person who makes this such an amazing board, not just a mass of numbers.

If you ever need anything, please lean on your boardmates, your favorite moderators or your favorite administrators for support. We're here for you, in pm, in email, or at the board.

We serve you best when we can give you the individual attention that you need. You can help us by letting us know what helps you most.

We appreciate your being here. Let us show you this.

Re: How can we help you?

One of the things I love about this board is that here I feel I belong.

Offline people have called me all sorts of charming and not-so-charming names about my weight and the way I look. Here, it doesn't matter what you look like - it's your commitment to eating low-carb, following DANDR and exercising that are more important priorities.

Here, I can share how I feel about the things I know to be triggers for me and I can talk about all the things I am doing to make myself healthier.

Here, I have found people who know EXACTLY where I am coming from and who may well give me a verbal kick up the backside when I need it but who will at the same time provide encouragement, support and hints and tips that I can follow.

For those of us who aren't in the US of A it can be harder to do low-carb because we don't have access to so many of the products that you guys do. Ok, meat is meat regardless of whether I'm in Edinburgh Scotland or Edinburgh in America.... but you know what I mean. You have magazines and low-carb shops... I envy you for that.

I would like to think that I am making a contribution to the board and giving back some of what I've been given over the past year or so. I am certainly very very glad that I found this board and joined - the posts and the posters help tremendously.

Keep up the good work, everyone.

      Great post, Jamie!!

For my part, I love this board and its TOUGH LOVE that keeps us all on track! Whether you're a newbie just starting induction, or a long-timer on maintenance like me, you find what you need here. And you're welcome AT ANY TIME to post your accomplishments and know that we'll celebrate your success with you! Post your shortcomings and you'll be encouraged to "GET BACK ON TRACK" ... post your whooshies and we'll all CHEER!! Post your exercise achievements and we will !!

I stay on this board in hopes that I can help you all see that Atkins WORKS long-term!! It will be 4 years for me next month, and I can hardly believe what Atkins has done for me when I look in the mirror!! I am not the same person I was 4 years ago, I know that for sure!! Bottom line: this plan works as a WAY OF LIFE!

Re: How can we help you?

For me, it's a combination of things. I love the tough love that I got from Moochie when I started. She practically threw the book at me!! I love TT's hardcore, don't cheat... do it how it was ment to be done, method. I love Jamie's acceptance and understanding. Her motivation to make myself a better me, for me, no one else. I love Brook's "enthusiam" with exercising. It's hard, but it works, so lets do it and b*t*h together.

I do love pictures. For some reason, I say wow, I could look like that, and it helps to motivate me. SEEING the results is what I love...

I love this whole board. Everyone brings a little something to the table that makes ADBB what it is.

If nothing else, Jamie, this post shows how compassionate you are and how much you love helping others achieve their goals. You are an asset here at ADBB, and WE LOVE YA!!!!

Just wanted to interject that processed low-carb products are not all they're cracked up to be and you are probably better off not having access to them. All a person needs to do Atkins is the perimeter of the grocery store (meat, dairy and produce) and a little imagination. Please don't think that you're missing anything!
I'm in Canada, and I have access to low-carb stores. It's taken me about a year to work my way through a bottle of low-carb ketchup, and I've had the same bottle of low-carb maple syrup for almost two years. One low-carb shop in town went out of business last year...the products are expensive and quite often a disappointment, so don't worry about not having them.

          Anyway, thread hijack over!

lol jsj!! I firmly believe that once a person understands the 'why' behind the diet, it makes all sorts of things so clear...and I will continue 'throwing the book' at people....lol

As you should Moochiecat. I understood the eat low carbs, loose weight part of the diet, but it made everything 110% crystal clear. I understood that not only am I loosing weight, but making my body healthy by lowering cholesterol among many other things. Oh, and who knew their were good carbs?? I learned so much from reading it.

You know what, it's funny b/c you say to read the book, and then you look at your progress pics, and their should never be any doubt. You look fabulous, and it just goes to show, follow it, BY THE BOOK, and the results are so real. You Go Girl!!!

Re: How can we help you?

Thankyou!! When I started I kept wanting so badly to be one of those people that I ooh'ed and ahh'ed about.

And that exactly was what I loved about the board ( and still love!) was that I could see pictures of regular folks who just simply followed the directions in the book, and wow...such profound changes in their bodies and their lives!
Really, there should be no doubt, as you say, hence all that tough love we dish out on a daily basis.
