    Yeppers, it is!
Remember that with any sweetener, we are limited to three servings a day.

          Re: Stevia

Not to start a big hooplah or anything, but I was wondering if there was a reason why Stevia is limited. As far as I know, DANDR 2002 limited Splenda to 3 servings as it has carbs in it. Stevia is a sweet plant fiber, so I am confused as to how this applies.

            Re: Stevia

The book recommends 3 servings of sweeteners, no matter which sweetener you choose to have.
It makes sense to me that since sweets were what got a lot of us obese to begin with, it would be logical to limit them. I don't know Dr. Atkins specific reason for why.

Also, you might want to give this a read:

              Re: Stevia

In one of his other books (I think it's Dr. Atkins' Health Revolution), Dr. Atkins says that his ultimate goal is to move us off our dependency for added sugars. The artificial sweeteners can aid in that weaning. The taste of sweetness is addictive. Some folks fall off this WOE because they become overly dependent on the artificially sweetened stuff. Also for some of us, the sweeteners can cause blood sugar instability problems because they fool our bodies into thinking they really are sugar.

By the way, the sweetener limit doesn't change during the Diet, per the book.

yeppers about that fooling the blood sugars thing.

Oh and it isn't asweetner limit. it is servings of sweetner limit so if your soda can has 1.5 sevings of soda in it according to the manufacturer and you drink the whole can you just had 1.5 of your 3 per day limit.
