  • High Fat Help

Okay, I had mouth surgery and am only allowed soft foods for a while. I am doing okay with eggs, cheese, SF jello, SF applesauce but need some higher fat soft foods.

I have made my tuna with mayo in the food processor but still more ideas.....

Can you guys give me suggestions????

Egg salad made with mayo? maybe whip some cream to top your jello with. Maybe a homemade cream based soup?

And How about making smoothies since you are at goal? fruits, cream, creamcheese, protein powder mixed with ice in a blender...

Peanut butter is also quite high fat too.

You're at goal weight right? So how much fat are you still eating? During Maintenance Phase, the fat percentage is about 40-50%, so eggs or cheese along with a soft Maintenance food like oatmeal or bean soup would be pretty ideal.

Thanks to both of you for ideas... I totally forgot about smoothies.

Yes, I am at goal... I do about 50-55% fat, 40-35% protein, rest are carbs. Give or take. But I am still trying to figure out the best percentages for me. What are your percentages, just out of curiousity.

Sadie, how do you make your egg salad? I have never made it before and would love a good recipe.

I often make soups of 'leftover' meals.
Just process the meat and/or veggies and add water and cream or butter and seasoning or spices to taste. Easy peasy to make and to 'eat'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I'm a slow loser, so I'm not at goal yet. But most people on Maintenance are at the 50-55% fat. That's what puzzled me about your post. For Atkins the "high fat" phases of the diet are the weight loss phases.

But as Elizellen suggested, soups are a great option for you.

hope your mouth is better soon.

try lowering yoour protein it should be at 30% as excess proteins are converted to sugars anyways. I'm a 50-55% fats Atkineer at maintenance.

make cream of soups any veggie you like with some broth and some cream.

I love creamcheese one once mixed with 1/2 cup of pumpkin and pie spice as a spread or just off the sppon. pumpkin or roasted veggies soup with some butter is good too.

faux taters souffels and if they fall who cares it is taste not eye appeal you are after.
              mock danish

recipes for all of theabove should bein the data base.

In maintenace I was probably about 50%...problem was I got carried away in the summer with higher fat foods i think..and that brought my cals up, and i put on a few lbs. So luck you i'm now struggling to find my good percentages (as well as lose 5 lbs!)

I make a pretty basic egg salad I just mix chopped boiled eggs with a tablespoon or two of mayo, salt, pepper, chopped celery and either finely diced onion or green onion depending on what i have. I also like to put some cayenne pepper when i feel like a bit of spice
