  • Induction for 3 days...

Is it okay to do induction 3 days? There is a strike in nyc trains and may not go to the party and would love to start this program if not able to go to party.

    Any ideas?

I think you want to wait until you can fully commit to this way of eating to start induction. Assuming you plan to go to day three and then break your ketosis, you'll just be prolonging induction flu and cravings. You should really only have to go through that 1 time. It's bad enough! *l*

LOL! I just feel sick not eating well. Also the train strike, I cannot tell how long it'll be? Cause if there is a strike, I can continue the induction phase.

      Thanks for your answer.

{{{shirley}}} induction is one of those things you can continue on past the 14 days if it's working for you and if you have an ample amount of weight to lose (like me, I make Michael Moore look like the skinny Olsen twin).

But if the strikes means you cannot continue to follow this way of eating, then it is something you can plan for in the future. I mean, we have to learn to get through these really annoying events intact.

No, I dont have alot of weight to lose. I meant if the strike continues, I dont go to the party and continue the induction phase.

I hope this is more clear.

Well, if going to the party means you plan to fall off the diet, then wait until after the party... though I would recommend you go to the party and eat what's induction-friendly and not break induction. Even at goal, you'll have to deal with soirees and fetes where the feasting isn't so thigh-friendly.

Making positive change for life means even your parties aren't going to put you into a carb-induced state of amnesia followed by the guilt of waking up next to Little Debbie the next morning and saying, "Oh no..."

No, I wouldnt be eating induction at a party. I am trying to figure out if the trains will run so I can start also. Oh, well maybe I will learn sooner or later about the trains.

              Thanks!

                Hi shirleyhon
Just to let you know that once you have been on Atkins for a while you will learn how it is possible to have a blast at a party and STILL stay on whichever phase of Atkins you are on!!

Seems odd before you are used to coping but I am sure many of the other members here can testify to it.

There are many strategies we can use, some are:
eating a good meal before going so you arent tempted by off-plan foods. Who says we have to eat the food just because it is there?

taking something you can eat with you (either some legal snacks in your bag or a plate of yummy legal food) - not many hosts/hostesses will refuse an extra plate of food at a party!

choosing only foods that are 'legal' for you from the variety available.

                Anyone got any more thoughts?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Shirley, Hon, - take it from an Atkins yo-yo dieter. The last thing you want to do on this is yo-yo. The more you do it, the more likely it is that your metabolism will become resistant to it and the longer of a clean induction you will require to get back into ketosis and the longer before you see any weight loss. Party hearty if you wish, but make sure the next time you start this WOE remember that is what it is: a WAY OF EATING and make it the last time you 'start' it by never stopping. That doesn't mean that you won't get tempted and fall off every once in a while - we all do and experience great results because this is our WAY OF LIFE and immediately get back on. If you are NOT ready to COMMIT, then you are setting yourself up for failure because the weight won't come off as fast the 2nd or 3rd or 20th time around because the body adjusts and gets smart about it.

I hope this helps you in your decision.

                  Take care!
